The OWC / Other World Computing 240GB Mercury Electra 6G Solid State Drive is a 2.5" Serial-ATA 9.5mm that is equipped with a SandForce 2281 Processor and DuraClass technology, and offers sustained reads up to 556 MB/s and writes up to 523 MB/s.
In addition to RAISE (Redundant Array of Independent Silicon Elements) technology, the Solid State Drive comes with ECC protection that protects the data on your hard drive and retains it for a long time on the hard drive. The Mercury Electra Solid State Drive features intelligent block management, while the wear leveling system evenly distributes the data over the hard drive. An intelligent read disturb management spreads active read/write, eliminating data corruption.
Advanced intelligent recycling ensures space management by re-writing the data over the SSD, and Durawrite extends the quality of the hard drive. Compatible with Mac and Windows, the Mercury Solid State Drive has no moving parts and a highly rugged storage solution offers faster system response. It supports 240 GB useable capacity with a total flash memory of 256GB, additionally 16 GB space is allocated for real time data redundancy and error correction.

Comments about OWC / Other World Computing 240GB Mercury Electra 6G Solid State Drive:
I installed this in an MSI IN-602 case, connected it to a Seasonic power supply and an ASUS Sabertooth motherboard carrying an Intel i7-3770 and 16GB of G.Skill memory. Powered up the machine, and installed Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit on the first try.
Boots to Window 7 in less than fifteen seconds...so what's not to love?

Comments about OWC / Other World Computing 240GB Mercury Electra 6G Solid State Drive:
I have two of these in a RAID-1 config for my O/S and swap files. From the first "Starting Windows" graphic, to the login prompt, averages 20 seconds. That's FAST. In the Win7 performance testing, the disks max out at 7.9 score, the highest possible.

Comments about OWC / Other World Computing 240GB Mercury Electra 6G Solid State Drive:
I installed this drive in my 2011 Mac Mini, and it works wonderfully. My Mac now boots faster than my iPad, and programs open almost instantly. It definitely makes the entire system seem much faster. Its probably one of the best upgrades that most users could make. The cost per storage ratio is still a little high, but the performance is unmatched by any conventional drive.
