Comments about OWC / Other World Computing 120GB Mercury Electra 6G Solid State Drive:

Took all of 30 minutes to carbon copy the old, failing drive and replace it with this one. SATA port on the 2010 MacBook can't use the fool SATA III spec, but the fact that it's SSD and portable to another machine later on makes it a good investment. Excellent value and speed from B&H.

I replaced the optidrive in my MBP and use an SSD as my boot and application drive. This my 2nd OWC drive. I upgraded from the OWC 60GB with the same specs. I've have no issues with this 120 or the 60GB drive. Both have performed solidly.

Comments about OWC / Other World Computing 120GB Mercury Electra 6G Solid State Drive:

I bought this to replace my 7200rpm hard drive, and although my notebook only has a SATA 11 (3G) interface the difference in performance is really pleasing. Boot time reduced from 60 to 25 seconds and most apps open in 1 to 5 seconds. Also, Windows 7 runs noticeably more smoothly with much faster copying and rendering times. Windows Experienc Index for disk data transfer rate went from 5.9 to 7.5 Small GB capacity but still more than enough for operating system and prorams. Cannot say how Mercury Electra compares with other brands but this unit looks solidy built. An SSD should be at the top of anyone's list of upgrade options and so far I have no reason not to recommend this Mercury model.
