Comments about IOGEAR 2-Port DualView Dual-Link DVI KVMP Switch with Audio:

It's a pretty specific and exotic piece of hardware so they can charge a premium. Fortunately it's built like a tank and very reliable. I use it to switch between a hackintosh and a linux box between dual 27" 2560x1440 monitors.

There's some very specific issues with power saving on one of the monitors, doesn't seem to send the correct power off signal through the switch which causes the 2nd monitor to power cycle every minute or so.

I previously had the 4 port model for work, and invested in the 2 port model for my home setup.

Comments about IOGEAR 2-Port DualView Dual-Link DVI KVMP Switch with Audio:

I was seeking a KVM switch to replace my old one that only supported a single monitor. It took me a while to settle on this one, but I am surely glad I did.

The setup of this product is VERY simple because everything comes in one box. I didn't have to worry about getting the right cables in a separate transaction and hoping everything would come in at the same time.

I have found the product to do everything the description said it would. I couldn't be happier with the purchase.

Comments about IOGEAR 2-Port DualView Dual-Link DVI KVMP Switch with Audio:

The device was very intuitive and easy to setup. It did not take very long to get both systems up and running. And it worked the first time. I would recommend it to anyone hunting for a good KVMP switch.

Comments about IOGEAR 2-Port DualView Dual-Link DVI KVMP Switch with Audio:

Good tools keep you focused on the job without getting in the way or causing distraction. So far the IOGear KVMP achieves this!

              Pros:
              - Switch seamlessly between Windows7 and OpenSolaris.
              - Hotkeys work out-of-box on both systems.
              - Zero USB-boot-time problems.
              - Have not had to fight with it once.

              Cons:
              - KVMs take "Get what you pay for" to an extream.
              - The pricetag hurts, but I wish I had bought this sooner.

Previous <$100 KVMs prevented these SUN Workstations from booting, requiring unplugging/replugging and magic incantations. USB controller errors were prevelant, hotkey switching *never* worked in Solaris, USB devices wouldn't be recognized in Windows. Other common "glitches" I did not associate with the KVMs have seemingly been resolved.

Worth every dollar, hopefully it will be here for the long-haul.

Comments about IOGEAR 2-Port DualView Dual-Link DVI KVMP Switch with Audio:

Reached my frustration level with my Linkskey KVM. Never remembered I had two monitors connected unless a precise power up sequence was followed and even then, it sometimes took two tries.

Cables were supplied with this IOgear switch, but I just moved the ones over from the Linkskey and never looked back. Works flawlessly. Stores the technical data from your monitor, so it remembers how to display multiple monitors from multiple computers.

If you have other than standard keyboard/mouse, you may have to go into setup to configure. The switch also lets you just switch the monitor/keyboard/mouse and leave the speakers and USB devices where they were – useful if running a USB backup or listening to music and just want to KVM to another computer. This appears to be a rebranded ATEN product.

More amazing was B&H price. Significantly lower than anyone else. Was a non-stock item, so it took longer to arrive, but did not matter to me.

Comments about IOGEAR 2-Port DualView Dual-Link DVI KVMP Switch with Audio:

I use the kvmp switch to drive two Dell U2711 displays, a keyboard, a 2Gb drive and headphones. It all seems to work pretty well.

Switching is easy, basically a single button push. The pc's (running Vista/64 and Win 7/64 respectively) don't seem to have any issues at all. This is good...

                But...
Problem 1 - the DCS1642 does not support resolution that is higher than 1680x1050 (even though the Iogear web site says 2560x1600.) I did experiment with this and don't have a good explanation.

Problem 2 - one of the DVI cables that was supplied with the unit was faulty. I had a spare, so it hardly mattered.
