The solid state hard drive fit in it perfect. I did have to alter the mounting pin areas in the sides though, so the unit would fit in the case. I used a Dremel tool to grind out the four areas, where the pins engage, so the whole unit could slide into the case.

I use the AdaptaDrive inside a Mobile Rack from SNT (125B)* that I have installed in the front of my desktop in a 5.25" bay slot. The Mobile Rack holds a removable/ swappable tray for a 3.5" HDD and the AdaptaDrive converts the tray into holding a 2.5" HDD. I currently have a 1TB HGST Travelstar in the slot and it's working smoothly, quietly and cool. The AdaptaDirive is engineered and constructed superbly and I expect many years of service from it.
*The same Mobile Rack is sold by Bytecc (125E).

I use these adapters to mount 2.5" SSDs into 3.5" bays inside two of my PCs. One of my computers actually has a couple of 2.5" bays available, but the wire routing was much better when I mounted my SSD in the 3.5" bay. Very nice brushed aluminum black finish. Easy install, slide the SSD into the adapter's connector, fasten the SSD to the adapter with 4 small machine screws, mount and fasten the assembly to the 3.5" drive bay, and connect the SATA cable to the adapter. One good thing about the SATA connection....there is a card adapter between the SSD and the SATA connector, which is a good design because it relieves stress from the point of connection on the SSD.

Comments about Newer Technology AdaptaDrive 2.5" to 3.5" Drive Converter Bracket:

I purchased this adapter to mount an SSD drive in my PC. This product is a far better option than the typical plastic adapters that are on the market. The AdaptaDrive is the only product I've seen that provides SATA and power connectors to interface with the 2.5" drive. This prevents the cabling issues users have reported with other adapters.

The AdaptaDrive is also solid metal and extremely well built. The open design is also great for air flow around the drive. The AdaptaDrive costs more than the plastic alternatives, but it's worth every cent.

I considered other 2.5 to 3.5 adapters, though bought this. I am glad I did. This bracket is a tough aluminum frame with the electronic connectors to convert the pins of the 2.5 SSD to the SATA cable and power connectors. I am not that savvy with adapting the smaller drive architecture to a desk top. This worked like I needed. The only thing is mounting screws and spacers could have been included.

I was surprised at how sturdy this product is. It wouldn't really need to be, it's just an adapter to hold an SSD which has no moving parts, in a desktop computer which would also tend not to move around very much.

But it's a very solid hunk of metal with a glossy black finish. My only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is that the small circuit board could be enclosed and more firmly attached to the metal bracket. But this does not impact the usability of the product, just in terms of being careful with it when you install it.
