Comments about Cullmann Primax 190 3-Section Aluminum Tripod with 3-Way Head:

Will use for amateur photography, mostly telephoto and long exposures.

I am surprised and the sturdiness of the construction, that the legs are padded, and the stability when the legs are extended.

The head is adjustable in the horzontal and vertical axis and there is a detachable head that can be removed and reamin attached to the camera.

I do not have a long, heavy prime lens, but the tilt lock might not be able to handle such a lens.

The added carrying case with shoulder strap was a bonus.

        This is a bettern-than-expected value.

Comments about Cullmann Primax 190 3-Section Aluminum Tripod with 3-Way Head:

Overall, a very good tripod. Hlds my D300 with heavy lenses, where other tripods tend to slip pan settings under the offset weight My only disappointment is that the geared center column is rough to operate. The gear handle needs to be redesigned to provide more leverage..

Veritcal and horizontal pan motion is a little rough and both demonstrate backlash when used for macro photography. Need to use the geared column to fine tune vertical composition.

Nice range of height adjustments with the extra leg span! And very easy to level.

light and Solid But Not Smooth

Comments about Cullmann Primax 190 3-Section Aluminum Tripod with 3-Way Head:

It is light and acceptably sturdy. Setup using the leg extensions are easy and the geared adjustment for the head is acceptable.

I did however have one major problem with the tripod - fine head adjustments are almost impossible. Making that minor tweak to set the composition on a stationary object (big or small) is just too hard. Light presure on the adjustment lever would not move the camera and when I applied enough pressure to move the head I inevitably moved it too much. Getting the composition right(both latterally and vertically)was really hard.

Basically I would not recommend this for anything that required very precise positioning.

Comments about Cullmann Primax 190 3-Section Aluminum Tripod with 3-Way Head:

Great all purpose tri-pod. I purchased this for our marketing department to use for product photography and videos. We aren't photography professionals, but we are good amateurs. This tri-pod is nice and tall which is why I selected it. Everything on it works like you would expect a tripod to work ... the parts seem pretty standard. And I like that it came with its own bag. The feet are rotating feet are cool too and work well although they aren't really necessary for our environment.
