Product Highlights
  • One Twist Locks All Sections
  • 58" Maximum Height
  • Supports Up to 11 lb
  • Weighs Less Than 0.8 lb

The Cullmann Magic 5-Section Aluminum Monopod is a sturdy anodized aluminum support for a DSLR or other camera. As part of Cullmann's Magic line, there's a neat trick to the way it sets up: Once you have the sections in their desired places, with one twist of your wrist you can lock the entire monopod. This, of course, makes for extremely fast setups – which is one reason you're carrying a monopod in the first place.

The monopod reaches a full working height of 58" when extended, and because it has five sections it contracts into a very small package – it measures only 16.9" when closed, which makes for easy storage in a backpack. Supporting up to 11 lb, the monopod weighs less than 0.8 lb., so it's easy to keep it in your travel bag for achieving stable shots in a pinch.

Comments about Cullmann Magic 5-Section Aluminum Monopod:

I got this monopod for hikes with my D7100. It is very light and still totally solid. It takes some getting used to the twist-lock mechanism, which at times seems a bit hard to engage or disengage. I'm 5'11" and it is just about tall enough, even though that is better with the Oben BD-0 mini ball head on top, which barely adds any weight.

Comments about Cullmann Magic 5-Section Aluminum Monopod:

I needed a compact and light-weight monopod that would fit inside my backpack, so I decided to give this one a try. It took me a few attempts to learn how to expand and lock it into place, as no instructions were to be found in or on the box. I found that the best way for me to expand and lock it is to loosen the sections to the desired height and while firmly grasping the top section, twist the lowest section clockwise. Be careful not to twist it too tightly as this will make it difficult to collapse when finished due to the small amount of grip area on the section rings. I used it with a Nikkor 35-70 f2.8 and a D-7000 with no problems. It is a solid/light and well machined monopod. For my height of 5'11" with a Vanguard PH-10 head, it is right at my eye level. If you are taller, you will probably want to pass on this one.
