The SmartStor DS4600 4-Bay DAS Server from Promise Technology protects your valuable data and digital contents making them readily available anytime. With the four high-speed interfaces including eSATA, FireWire 400, FireWire 800 and High-Speed USB, the SmartStor yields high performance. It is an ideal solution for Home backup, SOHO/SMB backup, Storage expansion on PC/Mac and multimedia professionals who require applications such as Final Cut, Adobe Photoshop and 3D Studio Max. SmartStor DS4600 can also be used to store music and video for playback using SmartNAVI Media Player or any Media Player on the client system.

Advanced and Reliable Data Backup Solution
SmartStor DS4600 is a next generation backup solution with support for up to 4 hard drivers in RAID 0, 1, 5 and 10. The RAID technology ensures your data will be available for access anytime. With SmartSync feature in SmartNAVI, users can backup the data to DS4600 immediately or enable the schedule backup at anytime you like.
Easy Set Up and Initialization
Setting up the SmartStor DS4600 is quite easy. Install the hard disks into the supplied drive carrier rails, insert the disks into the enclosure and connect the SmartStor DS4600 to your Mac, PC, Server, or laptop. You don't need to worry about device driver installations or other complex configurations.
One Touch Configuration
Insert your hard drives in the DS4600, press and hold the One Touch Configuration button on the front of the DS4600 for 3 seconds to automatically create an array. Then format the array using Disk Utility under Mac OS X or Disk Management under Windows and you are finished with setup, ready to store data.
Compatible with Time Machine
Connect SmartStor DS4600 to your Mac for use with Time Machine to backup your critical system files, applications, data files, music, pictures, videos and more.
Ultra Quiet and Green
SmartStor DS4600 complies with the RoHS standard, which means the SmartStor DS4600 is eco-friendly always keeping the environment in mind. The Standby feature of the SmartStorTM DS4600 allows hard drives to spin-down reducing power consumption during periods of inactivity. Thanks to the new enclosure design, system noise generated by the fan is no longer a concern.

    Using the FW-800 port to my MacBook Pro. Works great, timeout spins the drives down and trying to connect brings them up again (about 60 sec). Have had about 2 weeks, VERY happy so far!
    Wish I could adjust the timeout...
