The UB3T Invictus Variable Output LED Flashlight from Surefire has an ergonomic CombatGrip body design, selectable light levels, plus strobe and SOS modes. It's constructed from high-strength aerospace aluminum that's hard anodized.
The high-efficiency LED has a runtime of 1.7 hours at 800 lumens--far better than incandescent lights. A selector ring has eleven settings: eight levels of light from 2 to 800 lumens; a strobe mode; an SOS beacon; and an OFF setting for extra protection against accidental activation. Its tactically useful tailcap switch is easy to find and easy to operate with your thumb while gripping the light.
Press the switch for momentary-on light at the selected output setting; press further, at any light output setting, and get all 800 lumens. Twist for constant-on light at selected output setting; twist further for max output. Finally, the UB3T also features a fuel gauge that tells you when you need a new set of batteries or need to select a lower light-output level.
The Invictus produces a tightly focused 800-lumen beam of brilliant white light--suitable for spotlight/searchlight applications, locating a take-out spot for your boat in pitch darkness, or providing suspect-blinding illumination for police work.

I will use this flashlight mounted to a weapon or dismounted for SAR. It's bright enough to function as a small search light. The different power settings on the flashlight are useful and intuitive to operate. I particularly appreciate the "SOS" function. If I were to find myself lost and needing to use this light as a beacon. The mode flashes "S-O-S" in morse code. Pretty cool. Useful for hikers who never learned morse - like my wife who could readily activate the mode if SHE were lost.
Mounts to a weapon using any set of 1 inch dia mounts. I haven't yet coupled it with an IR filter and looked at the beam under goggles... but if it's anything like what the flashlight is without a filter - you'll never need another IR illuminator.
