It serves its purpose. It does fit on my Nikon lens but it does not screw on/off nearly as smoothly as the genuine. The first time I put it on the lens, I thought it was cross-threaded but it's just how it fits. If you can find the genuine Nikon for a close price, I would go with that. But if the Nikon is WAY more expensive (like it was when I bought) then this is what you want.

It's a rear lens cover - how sophisticated does it need to be? Unless you have to have the Nikon name on everything, these are ideal replacements.
