The Stylus Pro 3880 Color Inkjet Printer Signature Worthy Edition from Epson is the identical to the Standard 3880 with an included Signature Worthy Media Pack. The printer is engineered to print photo gallery-quality images up to 17 x 22" in both color and monochrome. The 3 level black ink technology ensures your black and white prints achieve the desired tonal ranges. Once you create your tonal range settings, they can be saved and reapplied the next time, guaranteeing you print-to-print consistency. The printer automatically switches between matte black and photo black based on the type of media it detects so you don't have to manually switch cartridges each time or even tell the printer which to use.
Even when executing large print jobs, there's no need to worry about running out of ink in the middle of a print and wasting a page, the ink cartridges are designed to be replaced on-the-fly. That also means you won't have to waste the ink at the end of the cartridge because it's not sufficient to carry out the next job.
The printer makes use of Epson's printer technology to ensure not only the best possible output, but consistency as well. The Printer uses AccuPhoto HD2 Technology and a MicroPiezo Active Meniscus Control print head to ensure that not only is each drop of ink placed correctly but also that they are uniform in shape and size as well. The print head's ink-repellant coating prevents ink build up around the nozzles, so the ink is not only placed precisely each time but also reduces the amount and frequency of maintenance needed.

I purchased this printer and a number of boxes of Signature Worthy Paper and filed for rebate back in March 2012. After several calls and promises from Epson Rebate service, I am still waiting for $100 rebate in July 2012.

I bought this printer for great photographic prints and to save ink. The prints are great and it is clear it will save ink over time.
I used Colormunki to match with my monitor and I am impressed with how close they match.

Comments about Epson Stylus Pro 3880 Color Inkjet Printer Signature Worthy Edition:
This is an awesome printer! I was having problems before matching the color on my monitor with my printer. This machine from Epson using Epson paper, the color is right on with my Monitor. There might be a slight difference but I don't see it and I'm very picky about my images. I love the detailed, clear, precise images this printer pushes out! It was also very easy to set-up on my MAC. I would recommend the Epson 3880 to anyone! The Signature Series comes with a bunch of packets of various papers. That made it nice to see how my images would display using different style papers. I can't say enough great things about it. It solved alot of my printing problems.

Comments about Epson Stylus Pro 3880 Color Inkjet Printer Signature Worthy Edition:
It produces superb results straight out of the box. Set up was easy once it was unpacked. It is nice that this edition has spaces for both of the photo black and the matte black ink cartridges. The printer automatically switches between the two blacks depending on what you are printing. This printer prints beautifully, what you'd expect from Epson.

Comments about Epson Stylus Pro 3880 Color Inkjet Printer Signature Worthy Edition:
Tired of going somewhere to get my pictures printed. worth the price for me, especially at my level of photography skill. A little bit of a learning curve, especially 'type' of print paper to use. But, i am here to learn, and the photos that are made is worth the time/money spent. The detail is so 'sweet' versus your typical 2 ink cartridge printer. Worth the investment, to have a nice tool to end a photo project, from photo taking, editing, print. Agree with others about switching from matte to gloss.

Comments about Epson Stylus Pro 3880 Color Inkjet Printer Signature Worthy Edition:
My wife and I are interested in not only professional photograph printing but photography with a water color look. The 3880 is able to achieve both using the correct papers.
It was easy to setup and use on the first day, the end products are amazing. This printer is more than we expected it would be.
We haven't found anything negative about the printer.

Comments about Epson Stylus Pro 3880 Color Inkjet Printer Signature Worthy Edition:
I chose this product because my school had Epson 3800s and they were workhorses and gave very little problems. I didn't know they too upgraded to the 3880 over the Summer, until I saw the 3800s on an auction website.
Setup was very easy and it didn't take any adjustments to go right into printing for an upcoming art fair. Granted, I understand color management and already calibrated my monitor.
My only complaint is with the conversion to/from matte and glossy/luster paper... it purges ink and the volume is significant 1.6-3.6 ml (80 ml cartridge.) Be extra careful you choose the right paper or you'll be purging ink and you can't cancel the action!
The Signature Worthy Edition was nice because it provided me with many different Epson papers. I still purchased competitor papers to evaluate my work on, but this edition made it easier for me to cover my paper testing.
I have my printer on a APC UPS surge protector and backup battery.

Comments about Epson Stylus Pro 3880 Color Inkjet Printer Signature Worthy Edition:
I am a serious amateur photographer who had grown tired of relying on outside labs to get hard copies of my photos. After researching all the options, I choose the Epson 3880 Signature Worthy Edition. I got it at a time when Epson was offering a $200 rebate so it was like getting $175 worth of paper for only $35!
The printer was a snap to set up. I know I will be do ing a long distance move in a few years so I took detailed photos of all the packing tape and blocks as I prepped the printer so I could replace it all for the move. Software installation was also very simple on my Mac Pro system. My Apple Cinema HD monitor has been calibrated only with the Colorsync utility. I then printed a printer evaluation print from Uwe Steinmueller's web site ( found in his excellent book "Fine Art Printing for Photographers"). The result was a stunningly perfect color match print with excellent shadow detail The gray scale and color ramps showed no detectable banding. All of the color chips were discernible. In short I could find no faults with the test print. I have printed a few 16 x 20 color images and black and white images that were nothing short of spectacular. I would have to say this was one of the best investments I have ever made.
