If you want a simple card reader/writer, buy a different brand. There are better/cheaper models. This one claims to read/write SIM cards. It DOES NOT! In fact you're required to download an "update driver" from a separate website. This site crashes before you get the download. When you try to restart your entered serial number is locked. It comes with the reader. Your FREE driver update is only good for ONE attempt. If you want to try it again you must PAY. DO NOT BUY THIS ITEM. Find a better brand or get a cheap Chinese one.

Comments about Vivitar 72-in-1 Card Reader / Writer:

I've only tested this reader with cf flash card and it works fine. The thing I like about it is that the usb cable folds into a groove on the back. The makes for a small package with one less thing to lose - great for travel.

It seems to be a very nice card reader at a very good price.

Comments about Vivitar 72-in-1 Card Reader / Writer:

Won't support SIM cards. Included drivers on mini-cd pre-date Windows XP service pack 3, and don't function on platforms that "new". Further, my antivirus identified an executable on the cd as containing a Trojan-dropper. A replacement copy from the manufacturer contained the same Trojan-dropper. Nice.
Not only a frustrating waste of money, but a potentially computer-destroying one, as well.

I use this product to transfer images from a compact flash media card to my computer. It is affordable and has more uses than just compact flash. The thing I thought was interesting is it compatiable with a sim card. It also tucks the usb connect underneath the device to prevent wear and tear.

I have one from Staples. It cannot handle SDXC cards, which is surprising because it should be only software problem, if any, with exFAT driver. Also, CF pins bended on the first attempt to use, so I found it completely useless in 15 minutes.
I clicked 1 star by mistake, should be really no stars.

This card reader is fast when it works. I have only used it for SD & CF cards, and it seems to be reliable for SD cards. However, CF cards do not always go in easily & usually require multiple attempts. Also, the construction seems very cheap. I bought it in a pinch, but I would not rush to buy another.

I bought this card reader to transfer images from a CF memory card to computers. The CF card is used in a Canon 20D camera. But when I received the card reader and inserted my CF card, I found that my computer was not able to read the images. I have tried many times, and it just doesn't work. A SD card works fine with this reader, but that is not what I needed most. I am disappointed.

The device worked great for SD cards, however the software supplied did not work reliably for reading SIM cards (which is why I bought it). I was able to download a free trial version of software from dekart.com which did work well with SIM cards but it costs ~$30 for this software after the 30 day trial expires.

Comments about Vivitar 72-in-1 Card Reader / Writer:

I must have four different digital cards with game cameras... various digital camera and more. Solves all my frustration in one neat little reader with so many camera related hobbies. I work off a mac Lion system with no problems. Almost sounded tooooo good to be true.

                              Value at its finest!

                              Good job!
