The 3 Legged Thing X1.1a Adrian 5-Section Magnesium Alloy Tripod is a stylish and phenomenally compact travel tripod that features a removable, reversible center column. This column helps the 5-section tripod extend to a maximum height of 59.8" and retract to a very small 16.5" folded length.

The versatile X1.1a Adrian's legs are composed of aircraft-grade T6061 magnesium alloy for a supreme balance of light weight, sturdiness, and durability – the tripod weighs just 3.0 lb. One of those legs unscrews to become a monopod. The center column is both removable and reversible to accommodate shooting from the lowest of low angles.

Leg angles can be set at three different positions; at their widest and with the column removed, the top of the tripod chassis sits only 5.0" from the ground. The leg angles can be set independently to support stable shooting on uneven surfaces.

Titanium mounting plate with grub screw locators to bolt on a head

Comments about 3 Legged Thing X1.1a Adrian 5-Section Magnesium Alloy Tripod:

I used a friends "Adrian" for a couple months and fell in love with it. So small and light weight. When he came back from school I had to give it back to him. Didn't want to. Like the previous reviewer, when I got it I noticed that one of the leg hinges was a little lose, but just like every other tripod I've ever used, it comes with an allen wrench. Just gave it a little tweak and it was nice and tight again.
Came to BH site to buy one, but they were out of stock. But they're back in now, so I'm in, too!

Comments about 3 Legged Thing X1.1a Adrian 5-Section Magnesium Alloy Tripod:

We used this tripod for DSLR Video. I bought it to do low shots and since it was able to go extremely low I thought it would be a good fit but after the first two times using it I was really unsatisfied. The way the tripod locks into place is very easily stripped and honestly sometime just falls over. The legs do extend easily so that is one plus. The legs also close every time you pick it up which is a bad thing since they very rarely open back up at the same angle. I would not recommend this product for dslr video.
