Comments about Manhattan LCD 8.9" HD Pro Monitor with Sony Battery Plate:

I am pleasantly surprised with a field monitor that costs under [$]. It has many features of monitors that cost twice as much and is a real asset when trying to pull focus or set exposure on a HDSLR camera. The chassis is made of durable lightweight composite material, it feels much sturdier than those Thin Chinese models and is a good compromise between an alloy chassis and a flimsy injected molded chassis. It has almost every input you will ever need including VGA input so I can hook it to a laptop as a second monitor. It even includes an optional 3G HDSDI input that can be upgraded later at the factory just in case I upgrade my camera later on. The programmable hotkeys make using features a snap and the menu system is easy to navigate. The Sony battery plate is compatible with my old inexpensive Sony NP-F950 batteries so there is no need to buy a new charger or carry additional batteries. My advice if you are looking for an inexpensive field monitor get this one it works great and is made in the USA.

Comments about Manhattan LCD 8.9" HD Pro Monitor with Sony Battery Plate:

I got this monitor for use with a 5D MK2 rig. Manhattan LCD seemed to get OK reviews in forums, so I took a risk, even though I'd heard more about Ikan and Marshall. Has lots of quick video adjustments and mounting points on all sides. Good to have the extra size when on tripod.
-too heavy for a handheld rig (esp. w/ batt.)
-peaking feature dims the monitor's image (also affects the false color). Peaking detail is NOT color selectable. Not really useful as is.

Other than these, it is what Manhattan says it is.
