This bag is very convenient on a lot of levels. It protects the gear well, is light weight, and very transportable and can easily fit in the overhead bins on planes. The price at B&H was significantly less than other places.

The handle was a pain to work in the first place. It wouldn't go up... then it wouldn't click in and stay that way... It may or may not work now, I haven't decided. But other than that... I really like all the other Petrolly things about it. Oh I guess the other thing is it didn't really hug the DSLR

Best rolling kit bag, Handle NOT short

Comments about Petrol DSLR Camera Rollpak:

I've been through several bags in the last few years trying to find the right bag for travel that can maximize the amount of kit I can carry on.

As far as a bag with wheels goes this has got to be the best. When traveling to places where wheels don't make sense I stick to my porta brace bk-2N, which is a superior backpack with a bit more room inside, but lacks wheels.

However for most travel to more urban areas this bag really makes a lot more sense. Can fit 2 5d3 bodies (with battery grip) as well as 5 primes and my 24-70 and all my accessories with room to spare. The laptop pocket fits my Retina Macbook and 17" Macbook together which is great.

I wanted to really note that the handle is not short like the review above states, it's just really sticky, I had to put my foot on the bag and pull the handle hard to get the full telescoping length. This is definitely a small flaw in manufacture, but contrary to the above review (which is mostly positive) once you manage to free the handle's 2nd section from the bag it's more than big enough for me at 6'1"

Really happy with this purchase and will use it on all but the most demanding terrains.

By TVSTAFF Tony from New York, NY on 6/3/2013

Pros: Hold A Lot Of Equipment, Many Compartments, Easy to Use, Tsa Approved For Carry-on, Solid construction, Wheels, Durable, Backstraps,

I needed a substantial camera bag for my equiptment that had to meet many needs and I found it in the Petrol Rollpack. I travel a lot and my equipmetn is expensive so I always carry it on the plane. This bage is the MAX size allowed by TSA to carry on and it works. I also needed wheels and a handle and a backstarps so it's easy to travel with and in the field. The construction is outstanding and there is even access from a front flap for my Canon 7D or 5D MKIII w/grip and the 70-200 USM IS II. I can even fit the Canon 400 f/2.8 attached to my bodies. I carry two bodies, (4) to (5) lenses 70-200 2.8 or 400 and 2.8, 17-55 2.8, 50 1.4 and a 85 1.2. A 580EX II with small soft box and refeltors, 4-5 CPL,ND, UV filters, cleaning maaterials. A SONY HD video camera, small tripod and head, Color Checker and cube, a 17" Dell M6600 and all the power sources, cords, connectors, chargers and spare batteries for all cameras, HD video and flash. Also a set of walkie Talkies and their charger too. Plus and the books, CD's and it all fits with room to spare. It's easy to get around because the wheels are so good and the materials and zippers are reallt SOUND. This bag is buil well. I looked at other bags but note of them did everything I wanted or needed. Being able to take this on a plane makes my flights alot better as my equipment is of great value and I would never want anything to happen to it. In the field it becomes a back pack and even fully loaded it an ease based on the starp and the way it's balanced on your back. I'm so happy with this product. Do I like did. Go to B&H and try everything thay have a huge selection. If you're like me... You'll see that this bag is a winner. My Gitzo fits so well strapped to this too. This really is a great bag.

Comments about Petrol DSLR Camera Rollpak:

I use this with my 7d, 4 lenses, z-finder, zoom, shutterboss, and assorted batteries, cables, filters, etc.

Plenty of room for everything with a nice form factor. Really like te ability to quickly access the camera from the top of the bag while leaving the rest of the bag secured.

The only con I see is the height of the extendable roll handle. I'm 5'8" and I can use it just fine, but I feel that if it was just a bit higher it would ideal. I could imagine that for those taller than I (which is a lot of people) that this handle height would be a problem.
