The KanexPro HDMI Switcher (4 x 1) is used to switch HDMI signals with multi-channel audio from 4 different sources for display on a single monitor. Being HDCP compliant, the switcher prevents copying of digital audio and video content. Offering data transfer rates up to 2.25 Gbps per channel, the switcher supports full HDTV resolutions up to 1080p @ 60Hz and color depth of 12 bits per channel. Additionally, it supports high speed HDMI specifications such as Deep color, HD lossless audio formats, and Lip Sync.
Using a built-in repeater chip, the HDMI switcher performs signal equalization, which conditions the signal for error-free transmissions up to 50’ (15 m). It supports uncompressed audio such as LPCM and compressed audio such as DTS Digital, Dolby Digital (including DTS-HD and Dolby True HD). In addition, the switcher enables you to extract audio from the HDMI interface for transmission via Toslink, digital coax, or stereo audio channels.

Comments about KanexPro HDMI Switcher (4 x 1):
I purchased this switch because of its ability to break out the digital audio stream from the switched HDMI input. With this, I have essentially built my own 2.0 home theatre receiver: (1) I send the digital audio signal (LPCM) to a FIIO D3 DAC via optical Toslink and (2) the RCA output of the DAC goes directly to my DTA-100a amplifier. I'm quite happy with the result.
