The Midland ER102 Emergency Crank Weather Radio is the perfect portable companion that can alert you to incoming weather emergencies, hazardous conditions and a variety of other hazards. It's easy to use, affords instant access to weather and features a telescopic antenna for crystal clear reception. The ER102 is also a valuable survival and emergency warning resource because it can be powered four different ways, which ensures that you'll never lose touch. It can run on three AA alkaline batteries, an AC adapter, crank function, or rechargeable battery.
The ER102's basic emergency radio features include seven preset weather channels, a frequency band between 162.400 and 162.550 MHz, an alert with a 1050 Hz tone, and an informative AM/FM radio. It also has a thermometer with a freeze alert and an alarm clock with buzzer, local weather, or AM/FM radio waking possibilities. The ER102 even features an Alert Override, which automatically switches from your AM/FM radio station to warn you of hazardous conditions approaching.
Besides weather alerts and Alert Override, the radio has 3 x 1" display alert, voice alert, or even a flashlight alert feature that is ideal for the hearing impaired. Like other Midland emergency radios, the ER102 comes equipped with the versatile All Hazards Alert. This last feature provides a number of other emergency announcements besides weather conditions. It alerts you to a child abduction (Amber Alert) emergency; a nuclear power plant warning; a biological hazard warning; a civil emergency message; a fire warning and even a landslide warning. By combining AM/FM radio with a variety of hazard alerts and weather warnings, the ER102 is sure to keep you entertained - and more importantly - informed if an emergency is happening in the area.

Comments about Midland ER102 Emergency Crank Weather Radio:
I ordered this just before Hurricane Sandy and it arrived the day after the storm. We lost our power for 5 days and this radio was one of the few connections with the outside world for the first few days. We didn't use the crank feature as we had batteries. We were able to hear national and local news, weather, reports of damage from Sandy and updates on power restoration. We now have the built in battery charged and ready for the next power outage. I highly recommend this radio.

Comments about Midland ER102 Emergency Crank Weather Radio:
This is the second such radio purchased. The first worked so well during an emergency I bought another for a friend. Had a little difficulty remembering where to plug in AC adapter into the back of the radio; an e-mail to Midland Customer Service quickly got me on the right track. Both units work perfectly, but AM reception leaves something to be desired:Thus 4 stars. If I had a second friend, I'd possibly buy them such a unit!

Comments about Midland ER102 Emergency Crank Weather Radio:
Unfortunately I had to call and request assistance the day after I took the radio out of the box. It worked briefly after I charged the batteries as suggested for 12 hours and then I could not get it to work on any of the channels. I tried all of the power sources and still nothinng. I was given great support by your technical assistance but I had to return the radio. At this point I still do not have the replacemeent radio yet. Robert Andersen
