I purchased the Kanex AirBlue to plug into my DJ quality headphones so I could replace a cheap pair of Rocketfish headphones for casual listening. I went to bluetooth so I wouldn't be "chained" to my laytop while working, and so I could pair it with other sources, such as the Sony BT Tx/Rx connected to my TV. I am very satisfied with the easy of connecting to the Kanex receiver. Unlike the flakey Rocketfish, the Kanex has never caused my computer's BT drivers to crash, and connecting has been error free the past 3 weeks I have had them.At full charge, at—or near—maximum volume & a constant stream they last about 3 hours which is plenty of time for an afternoon at a noisy café. The included USB-A to mini-USB connector is high enough quality as well (which you can tell by the great flexibility of the cable).I had a bit of a problem reconnecting the first time after I paired it, but then again, I didn't have time to read the manual before I took it on the road for a week. I chalk that up to not RTFMing. Even without the manual, the single button makes control easy. I have dropped it a few times from about 3–4 feet on accident, but the device still works fine. It is very lightweight and the plastic has a nice cushiony (rubber-like) tactile feel, a fingerprint-proof matte finish, and doesn't seem brittle or shabby. So, I am guessing this will be a durable piece of hardware. Cons:The only think I would add to these would be a volume control, but none of the other BT receivers that aren't headphones have that feature from what I have seen.Unfortunately, I did get a ground loop when I plugged the USB charge cable into the AirBlue from a iPhone wall charger. When I checked the connection I noticed the mini-phono jack could not accommodate a slightly wide diameter sleeve. The socket itself is set under the edge of the device which does not allow wide sleeves to seat properly, and encourages hum in conjunction with an old amp or questionable quality (Sony). I found this out using a friend's "high quality" [@] brand 1/8" phono plug. All my connectors seat fine, and charging from my laptop's built in USB port does not induce hum.I really can't ding the Kanex AirBlue for this, since the other equipment was probably at fault. However a more open connection could have helped alleviate much of the hum

When I tried to send audio from my macbook pro to my stereo system via this AirBlue receiver, what came out was most of the transmitted audio (not all of it), combined with clicks, pops, and even variations in playback speed. It was painful to listen to, and I gave up after several tries.

There might be better bluetooth receivers available (and maybe I just got a faulty AirBlue unit, and other people have better luck), but for me the modest purchase price was money wasted. I'll stick to hard-wire connections for the foreseeable future.

Comments about Kanex AirBlue Portable Bluetooth Music Receiver:

The product pretty much worked out of the box with no hassles. The only issue I have is that sound quality is poor. Not close to the quality I had when direcly hooking up my phone to the car's media cable.

Comments about Kanex AirBlue Portable Bluetooth Music Receiver:

Works as advertised. Does have minor distortion especially with audio with dominant tremble at high volume. Probably due to audio compression during transmission. Can't comment on the battery life yet, used it for approximately 3 hours but still has juice left. Took away 1 star for wireless range, i did run into interference here and there under 15 feet. However Don't take my review the wrong way, the Kanex Bluetooth audio receiver is definitely a nice gadget!

This was great and easy to use. I may buy two more units.y car has Bluetooth but only for calls. If you have been in a car like the Ford Fusion which streams music via Bluetooth this is close to that option though that's depending if car has an AUX port. Though it has a USB power which my car does but if your vehicle doesn't you can look online or stores and find a port which connects to a cigarette lighter with the USB port, example like some aftermarket chargers for iPhones. I have it set where the USB is powering the device and plugged directly into my AUX port. Like most devices which are not directly wired to radios or any device it gives a very small hiss sound but depends also on quality of speakers in vehicle. Wired will always sound better than wireless regardless.

Use this to Internet radio from the iPad to a nice old portable radio with a line input.
Works well but the battery seems to run down a lot quicker than advertised.
I'd say it may run 3 hours on a charge, not the 20 hours stated in some of the products' previous write ups.
Outside of that it's a pretty good little rig.

Comments about Kanex AirBlue Portable Bluetooth Music Receiver:

I bought this primarily for the car to stream from an Andriod phone but also use it to stream to home stereo - from the phone and from the built-in BT on my notebook. If I'm working on the computer on the couch I can control everything without getting up and whatever can play on the computer plays on the stereo.

I don't like the fact it uses Mini USB instead of Micro - everything I have already to charge it is Micro.

It also wigged out a bit with multiple devices. My phone was hooked up to my BT headset for phone audio, and was hooked to the Kanex for media audio, and my notebook might have been talking to it as well and audio got very chopped. Reducing the amount of things talking to it fixed it. I also have the same issue with my wife's Ford - between her BT phone, my BT phone, headsets, and the like when everything is paired to everything.

Sound quality is acceptable - though most everything I've listened to it through are stock car HUs or my bookshelf stereo.

Comments about Kanex AirBlue Portable Bluetooth Music Receiver:

I was in a dilemma between Belkin product and Kanex AirBlue. This Kanex didn't have any previous reviews on B&H. But, because of its design and rechargeable battery, I took a risk and purchased it anyways. I think I made the right choice. I'm happy with the product. It is very easy to setup and has an awesome battery life (>12 hours).

I use this in my car all the time. But every time I turn-off the bluetooth or my car, I need need to hold the power button for 4 seconds. Then the AirBlue with recognize my phone and connect automatically. I guess, this is good feature. Because it turns the AirBlue off and saves the battery, instead of constantly searching for bluetooth devices.

For some, the construct might feel a bit plasticky, but for me it is just fine, because I don't hold it in hands anyways. Audio quality is good, if not great. Sometimes my phone and Airblue wouldn't connect properly, so I have to reconnect them again to receive proper sound.

Overall, it is good looking, portable and practical product that I would recommend anytime.

Comments about Kanex AirBlue Portable Bluetooth Music Receiver:

This description of this thing sounded so good, I bought two. One for myself and one a gift. I am not disappointed. The receiver does everything it says it does. Charging is easy via the supplied USB cable. The sound is excellent paired with my iphone and the pairing was painless. It is extremely lightweight but that is neither a pro or con, it's just lightweight. I have been listening to music for hours at a time without charging so battery life is not an issue. Two audio cables are included that should cover most applications.
