The Luminos 10mm Eyepiece (1.25") from Celestron offers a very pleasant 82° angular field of view. Retractable eyecups provide comfortable viewing for eyeglass wearers and when extended, shield stray external light from non-eyeglass wearers. This parfocal eyepiece needs little or no focusing when changing the magnification from a low to high power. It has threaded barrels to accept 1.25" Celestron thread-in filters. The polished, hard anodized aluminum barrel is scratch resistant and imparts a visual impression of high-tech sophistication. Surrounding the eyepiece is a rubber ring with finger indents that supply a slip-proof grip.

Good Eyepiece, but not for me

Comments about Celestron Luminos 10mm Eyepiece (1.25"):

This is a very good eyepiece if you have a larger telescope at f/6 or higher with a sturdy mount and a 2" diagonal that can handle it. It's very well made and impressive on first seeing it.

The twist up eyecup is very smooth to operate and the
After daytime terrestrial viewing and nighttime astronomical viewing of good seeing the image at center was clear. The 82° field of view was very nice but focus was lost closer to the edge.

After reading conflicting reviews regarding views of Jupiter and Saturn, I could see what both sides were stating. Jupiter and Saturn have slight ghosting, but I only really noticed it on the outer 50% of the extremely wide 82° field of view. The center was very nice and clear.

It was very bulky for my NexStar 5SE 1.25" diagonal and the thumb screws were catching the outer edge of the eyepiece instead of the receiving tube. I could have switched the thumb screws on my diagonal with the visual back screws to compensate (since the threads are the same and the thumb knobs on the visual back are more narrow) or, as Celestron Customer Service suggested, I could have purchased a 2" diagonal with a 1.25" adapter to better accommodate the larger, heavier eyepiece.

If I had more Luminos eyepieces, I would have kept this 10mm since the series is parfocal. But knowing that there are alternatives that cost less with virtually the same performance, I decided to return this eyepiece.

Sorry, Celestron. This is a good eyepiece, it just didn't work for me at this time. But I would recommend it to someone if they had the appropriate equipment to support it.
