It fits well in my hand and seems like it "belongs" on the camera. It's nice to go out for a days worth of shooting and not need to bring extra batteries.
Like others have said: remember to switch it off when not in use as it will drain battery power faster. It adds weight, but I'm not bothered by that. Sealed buttons match my A77 well!

This is a great addition for people who take lots of portrait or vertical pictures. Gives you great camera handling and allows you to keep both elbows close to your body, for good camera stabilization.
All the main buttons are easily accessible since most of them are duplicated on the same position as they are on the camera. Also gives you the extra power of having the possibility of two batteries so you don't have to worry of getting out of power during a session.
I really don't mind it being a little bit heavy. I can handle it.

This grip is a perfect addition to the sony a77.
With the ability to hold 2 batteries it makes shooting all day in the field possible without having to worry about having enough battery power.
Shooting portraits is a snap with the shutter button right where it needs to be, reducing fatigue on the shooter!
This is an excellent piece of equipment and would recommend it to anyone.

A full functioning vertical grip. As a Minolta to Sony convert, I must admit Sony continues to impress. Pro's: not too heavy and dual batteries is always a plus. Possible Con: On-off switch is small and not in the same location as on the camera (at the shutter button). Not major to me, but some my find it an issue. Of course, if you want a lighter, smaller camera, it may not be for you. Personally I prefer a camera with a "little meat" to grab onto and I do shoot a fair amount of verticals.

The vertical battery grip for the A77 really completes the handling aspect of the camera, as well as providing double the battery power. I find the grip especially good when using the big, heavy, fast lenses (like the 70-200 2.8). With the grip, I can maintain my "regular" holding stance (with both elbows digging into my ribs) rather than the "right-hand flap" without it. The weight of the grip and batteries also acts as a counterbalance to the front-heaviness of a big lens, making it seem easier to hold (although the whole package is heavy). It also makes using the simple one-hand strap I prefer more secure.

I have the Vertical Battery Grip for Alpha -A700 on my A700 and find it a great tool and now I have the same for the A77 Its a pity the 700 grip did not change over but there we go

I had not used a vertical grip with prior cameras so was unsure what to expect. This grip is so well integrated to the a77 and controls beautifully placed I may not take it off. What a pleasure to use and it sure has generated many compliments.

This is a great addition for my Alpha 77. I have always had to strain a bit when shooting vertically. With this addition it is so much easier. The build quality appears to be excellent and although there are many learning curves to overcome with the A-77 this addition fits right in both physically and operationally.

The vertical grip as far as I am concerned is a real must for the a77, it completes the camera. It improves the balance of the camera especially when using larger lenses. It is great on the tripod when shooting vertical poses. The camera performs like a pro camera and the vertical grip makes it fell like one.

This is a great addition to an existing loaded camera. Even though it does add some extra heft to the already 'durable' A77, it makes up for it by providing (at a bit of extra weight again) another battery pack inside the casing for double the use time without the need to reload and charge. It's main feature is of course to have all of the buttons and dials available and within easy reach when shooting vertical portraits or extended vertical use, such as for architecture, tall buildings, etc. There is also a very handy leather hand grip available which thoughtfully attaches the bottom strap to the vertical grip's anchor, taking off the strain on the right hand during extended photo shoots, and for also keeping a safe hold on the camera during transport. Highly recommended.

The a77 felt great to begin, but wow what a handle I have on my camera now! It has been years since I used a grip so I wasn't sure I wanted to make the investment. But, I don't even consider taking it off the A77 now. Sony did a fantastic job on the design on this unit, Kudos! It fits perfectly to the camera. I was leery of having to take the battery door off, but it is designed to leave the door on as it fits into a slot without having to remove. Perfect! In the event you need to take it off you do not have to search for the misplaced battery door. Just take the unit off, close the battery door and carry on. Next, all of the function buttons work flawlessly. I think the button placement is better on the attachment than the camera. The additional battery capacity, battery not included, is great. It even enables the display to show both batteries and which one is in use. The battery tray is numbered (1) and (2) so if one battery needs charging and the other does not, you can tell which one to charge. The additional shutter button for vertical use, AWESOME, and it is perfectly placed! If you are shooting vertical, you already have muscle memory for the horizontal button, so you are not searching for the button hitting other stuff. Sweet! Although the unit adds a little weight to the camera, it is built solid. This is not an issue for me personally, I think it balances the unit. Probably at the low end of importance and also a personal observation only is I think it is aesthetically pleasing to my eye. It just looks like it belongs. The functionality of the unit justifies this purchase for me. It adds to in almost every way, yet takes away almost nothing for me. It is a little pricey, but I use it, and I like it!

Those grip does what it is designed to do. It enables comfortable operation in the portrait position. It allows the use of a second battery, thus extending the time you can keep shooting. As the battery life is fairly short on the A77, this is a major plus.
The build is excellent, the same as the camera. The grip is also weather and dust sealed, again like the A77.

The grip also duplicates the major controls of the camera, including both dial wheels and the joystick. Unfortunately the buttons are not in the exact position as the camera's controls, so you have to pay attention when using.
Otherwise the design is good,as the grip is comfortable to use,despite it's relative bulk.
all in all a great addition,which is a permanent fixture to my camera.

Great addition to the camera...Feels good in the hand. Having all the controls in the vertical position is very nice. However the grip does not allow for manual switching of the batteries. Most DLSR camera's have the same problem when the battery gets low on power the auto focus does not work as well with low battery life. The Sony A77 grip switches batteries once the first one is depleted. Haven't run into a issue yet so we will see...Other then that, its a great fit.
