With a design that straddles the line between tablet and laptop, the ASUS 16GB Eee Pad Slider SL101 Tablet (Pearl White) offers several computing solutions for both work and play. It's a highly-portable tablet that can be operated by either its 10.1" capacitive multi-touch screen or its built-in, sliding full QWERTY keyboard. Even the addition of a keyboard doesn't weigh this tablet down. The ultra-thin design still weighs only 960 grams. You can use the Slider upright with the touchscreen or as a netbook with the keyboard. The LED backlit display features WXGA 1280 x 800 resolution and it's protected with a full coverage, scratch resistant Corning Gorilla Glass panel. Plus, the vibrant touch screen benefits from amazing 10-finger multi-touch support and it affords viewing angles from up to 178° on either side.
ASUS has outfitted the Slider with an Android 3.1 Honeycomb operating system, as well as a 1.0GHz NVIDIA Tegra 2 dual-core processor. The Tegra 2 facilitates ultra-fast web browsing, quicker response times and more efficient multi-tasking performance. In this day and age, if the tablet can't multi-task smooth and seamlessly, it won't be able to keep pace with our busy lives. This is not a problem for the Slider, since it uses a full 1.0GB of memory to aid the smooth transition between apps and the running of multiple programs at the same time. For storing all your digital media content, the Slider is loaded with 16GB of flash storage, as well as a microSD card slot for memory expansion. If that's not enough, ASUS offers buyers of the Slider one year of complimentary unlimited WebStorage.
Among this tablet's many multimedia frills, the Slider features a mini HDMI port for viewing stored and Internet content on an HDTV in 1080p full HD. Plus, HDMI supports an impressive 5.1 channel surround sound audio output as well. If you're into shooting home movies and taking lots of digital stills whenever the inspiration strikes, then the Slider is the tablet for you. The unique little hybrid features both front and rear facing cameras for shooting the world around you, as well as for video chatting with friends and family. The Slider also has an integrated mic and a high-quality speaker that features supreme SRS Sound with maximum bass response for sharing media right on your tablet's vibrant 10.1" touch screen.
The superior SRS Sound technology actually provides a dynamic 3D stereo audio experience as you watch the latest movies and shows right on your tablet. There's even a 2-in-1 audio jack that affords connection of either headphones or an external microphone through the same 3.5 mm jack. If you're an Internet junkie, you can use the Slider's built-in WiFi to connect to the web at any WiFi hot spot or from the comfort of your own home if you have a wireless network set up. The Slider also supports Bluetooth V 2.1 +EDR, so you can wirelessly connect peripherals to the tablet via Bluetooth. As an added bonus, the Slider is equipped to stream video or audio to a DLNA television or stereo.
Besides great function, the ASUS Slider also affords spectacular style and innovative design. It looks great and feels great in your hands. As you turn the Slider back and forth in your grasp, the G-sensor automatically shifts the view from landscape to portrait orientation. If you need directions, the Slider can act as an E-compass, as well as your average GPS device. There's a gyroscope and an ambient light sensor, which adjusts automatically to the ambient lighting. This intelligent design saves you battery power and money that would typically be spent on energy. The Slider can survive for up to eight hours on a single charge. Plus, the lithium-polymer battery is rechargeable for continuous fun whether you're at home or on the road. Unfortunately, the car charger is sold separately, but the tablet does come with accessories like an integrated tactile keyboard. Plus, the Android OS ensures that you'll never get bored, since the Android App Market grows larger and larger every day - offering hundreds of apps that will help you in the office and entertain you on the long commute home.

Bought this for my mom as a Mother's day gift. She loves it! She likes having access to the keyboard when ever she needs to type, didn't like the iPad. She says it's just like her cell phone only bigger.

I use my ASUS for reading Kindle books, playing games, browsing the web. It performs better than my HP which is a powerful unit, however, the HP does not give me the mobility I need. The battery on the ASUS is the best I've ever experienced. Would this had been available a few years ago I would not have spent 5K on an HP laptop and I don't care if it came with 3D glasses, who sits around watching a 17" screen with 3D glasses? Thank you ASUS and thank you BH for your white glove serrvice. Two great comany's , cant go wrong here

Comments about ASUS 16GB Eee Pad Slider SL101 Tablet (Pearl White):
This is a nice little gem that combines a netbook and tablet. After owning it a month, I still love it. (No major problems.) Nice and sturdy, no problems with the viewing angle (non-adjustable) and my favorite thing is the sliding keyboard (can't believe there aren't more out there like this!) Yes, it makes the tablet a bit heavier, but it's like having an automatic stand and keyboard w/o carrying extra attachments. I wasn't going to get a tablet until I saw this one because they seem so limited, but this combines everything you need to get work done w/ polaris, along w/ enjoying movies, e-reader etc. Yes the keyboard is cramped but it's a tablet! lol. Great price, screen, features...Ok, the one debbie downer is the speakers. Yes, they are lame. Even at high volume its not great, so I usually use headphones or an external speaker. If you can live with that, this is a great buy!!

I love this product. I wanted something small with a pull out keyboard that I could use to take notes with at meetings and workshops, etc. which this has. I also wanted to be able to check my email at hotels and motels and also when I am at a workshop which this does. A bonus for me that I did not realize this tablet had was a Kindle reader which I absolutely love and have downloaded many books. All my friends who have seen me with this have exclaimed that they want one too and want to know where I got it. The only complaint I have is exactly the same as one I read beore I purchased this and that is that there are no directions with it, not even a help menu which was very frustrating to me and caused me to almost send it back....but I kept at it and finally figured out how the various programs work.

Most of the things about this tablet are great. I almost did not purchase it because one review I read said there were no operational instructions with it beyond turning it on, etc., and I knew that would make it difficult and frustrating to me, which it did. And the reviewer was correct...I had to figure it out myself. There are a few things about it I still can't figure out but the things I use it for meets my needs and the reason why I wanted it. I am especially happy that it also includes a Kindle on it so that I can download e-books through [@]. This feature is indeed a plus factor. Also the Polaris Office was another reason why I purchased this machine and the note pad for note taking at conferences, etc.I love the slider keyboard and the only thing that I don't like is that I cannot find a "delete" key anywhere on it and so have no way to delete a letter or typing error(s) like on a normal keyboard. My biggest disappointment about this tablet is that there is no overall "help" menu anywhere on it, and if there is I sure have not found it. I would think that all computers would have a "help" menu so you can read about and understand everything there is to know about the machine you purchased.

I ordered the asus slider tablet and its all I expected & more. Its compact & I love the hidden keyboard. The touchscreen is sensitive and fast. Very accurate. My customer service from B&H was superb! They called right after I ordered to assure my purchase & I received in like 3 days. I like that I can use an SD card and the convenience of the charger being able to break down. Camera quality is great as well. Definitely a great buy!

What a great tablet! I have been reluctant to get a tablet because I couldn't imagine not having a physical keyboard. The Asus slider does it all! I love the portability, the brilliant screen, the fast response time, and the ability to use a mouse or stylus, the usb port, everything about it. The only criticism I have is there are no instructions, so I am experimenting to find out what all it does, and how.

Comments about ASUS 16GB Eee Pad Slider SL101 Tablet (Pearl White):
I LOVE this tablet! I keep it in the living room and use it to look up everything! I use it for shopping on lots of websites. When we need information about movies, or any subject imaginable, Slider is there. I play games, look up entertainment venues, and routes to get there. This is way faster than my 2-year old netbook. My e-mails are displayed right on my desktop. Believe i or not, the keyboard with no wristrest is easier for me to use than the netbook one with the wristrest (I hit wrong keys all the time and throw myself out of emails I'm composing, and my husband has the same problem). I love the display which is very clear and colorful. Some people don't like the glossy finish of the screen (gorilla glass), but to me, that makes the display clear and sharp (like the difference between glossy and matte finish photographs). Sure you can see fingerprints easily, but only when the bright sceen is not on. Also, I wear glasses and always have number of microfiber cloths that clean the glass easily. I have been considering buying a stylus for the screen not so much for the fingerprints but to be able select small choices easier on the touch screen. My brother-in-law has a Transformer but with the keyboard docking station it cost more than my Slider; plus it's heavier and I wanted a keyboard, but not quite as cumbersome as my netbook.

I bougt 6 of these for use by therapists for doing documentation. They are delighted. The tablet interfaces perfectly with our server - we had to download an app but once we figured that out it was easy. The keyboard is great. I wouldn't be surprised if more manufacturers come out with slide out keyboads on tablets.

Call me a throwback -- but I simply cannot use a device without a keyboard -- virtual keyboards just don't work if you are a "touch typist" of the old school. That having been said, the new tablet tecnology is great and I love it -- but the hassle of a seperate bluetooth keyboard is a pain. Ad in my familiarity with the Android platform from my phone and the Asus Slider is just a win/win for me.
I find more and more that my computers are being ignored and I go to the Asus for everything -- it has replaced my desktop, travelling laptop and even my Kindle.
Only drawbacks so far are that each time I turn it back on (instant on) I need to reconnect to my wireless -- but it takes a second and is not big deal -- and so far I haven't linked it to my bluetooth printer -- but I know I can do it.
I need to try it with a mobile hotspot to replace my old Verizon card that is not supported with Android.
Other than that -- perfect. Keyboard is easy to use and get to. Touch screen is appropriately sensitive. Connectivity seems great. And of course the Android apps keep on coming.
I would recommend this to anyone who wants a keyboard with their tablet -- if you don't, then the extra weight is not worth it - but for me it is.
One more plus - the full size USB card makes watching movies and inputting data a snap! Battery life has been excellent -- 2 or 3 days on a charge.
