The GorillaPod Hybrid Flexible Mini-Tripod with Ball Head - Gray/Black from Joby is designed to support small cameras with interchangeable lenses – Micro Four Thirds models and various other EVIL (electronic viewfinder, interchangeable lens) compact cameras.
Featuring the same style of bendable, grippy, wrap-around legs that have made GorillaPods both famous and highly useful, the GorillaPod Hybrid can be mounted on fence posts, trees, car hoods, and uneven surfaces – the rubber grips on its legs and feet keep your camera in place in any environment.
The Hybrid model also offers an integrated aluminum ball head that has separate controls for pan and tilt. This will keep the frame level and stable as you pan smoothly across a landscape while capturing a video clip. The GorillaPod Hybrid supports cameras up to 2.2 lb on just about any surface.
With its legs fully extended, the GorillaPod Hybrid measures 10.1", making it a great size for table-top shots and low-angle photography. It weighs just 6.4 oz, so it'll be a no-brainer to pack so you can easily capture high-quality, shake-free video and long-exposure photos.

Most tripods are a pain.
You know what I mean: They're big, bulky, and there's just no non-cumbersome way of taking them places with you when you go.
Enter the GorillaPod.
I (just recently) bought myself a Canon PowerShot G1 X, as a second camera to my trusty EOS 5D. I figured it'd be good to have a camera that was easier to pack around than the DSLR, for those times when I didn't need all the flexibility of the 5D but wanted something better than what was on my cell phone.
Because the G1 X is smaller and lighter than the 5D, I figured the tripod I got for it could also be smaller and lighter-weight than a tripod I might get for the 5D. I also figured that it'd be good to have a tripod that was small enough that I could just toss it in my backpack and not think twice about it when I wanted to bring it with me (in the same spirit as the G1 X).
The GorillaPod is just about the ideal solution:
1) It's small. Even unfolded, it fits quite nicely in my backpack and leaves room for lots more stuff.
2) It's light.
3) It has a spirit level. Although the G1 X has an electronic level, the second confirmation is nice, and if your camera does not have one you'll appreciate it more, I'm guessing.
4) It has a quick release mount that is very easy to use, and has a very positive locking sensation. The camera part of the quick release is small enough that you can just leave it on the camera too.
5) It has a ball head. That allows you to tilt your camera just about any way in which the body of the camera doesn't collide with the tripod legs.
6) The legs bend. This may even be the best feature of the tripod. When I was over in Brooklyn taking pictures of the Manhattan skyline on my recent trip I could (and did) wrap the legs of the GorillaPod around a railing, which allowed the camera to be secured very nicely and to get those all-important long-shutter exposures.
So I like it. It's not perfect, though:
1) I wish the ball head had independent locks for horizontal and vertical motion. Yeah, it's not a Manfrotto, but I can dream... Not having that made getting panoramic shots of the skyline more of a challenge/bother.
2) It won't work with the 5D. The ball head is good, but my lenses are too heavy for the GorillaPod, and the torque caused by that means that the GorillaPod is for the G1 X only.
3) On the G1 X at least, the camera part of the quick release mount blocks the battery cover. This, of course, is just a minor annoyance.
All in all, though, it's a great little tripod for what it is, and I recommend it highly within the restrictions I note above.

Mounted the GoPro, bent the legs and hung it from top of the door. I recorded a jam session without invading the floor space with a tripod. Using the high angle was perfect video coverage and the GorillaPod Hybrid Flexible Mini-Tripod with Ball Head was the perfect tool for the job. Never thought I would need it, now I will take it everywhere I go and may invest in another. B & H delivered it in record time and as always has delivered a quality product. The ball head with quick release make it all the better.

I work in the sports industry operating a camera mostly for major league baseball and I bought my GorillaPod to hold up an extra 7 inch program monitor. I had to make a modification and change the screw to the monitor as the screw that comes with the Gorilapod is for cameras and not monitors. Other than that this product works just like I hoped it would! It is quick to set up, strong and with the bubble on the head makes for level shots when I used it with my SLR camera.

Comments about Joby GorillaPod Hybrid Flexible Mini-Tripod with Ball Head - Gray/Black:
I bought this to use with my new Sony RX-100. Coming off a full blown DSLR with Gitzo tripod and Acratech ballhead, I was looking for something to provide adequate support without the hassle and bulk of a full sized tripod. After a lot of research, I decided on this, and it fits the bill nicely. Well made and the rubber/silicone rings and feet really let it grip whatever surface you have it on. The little ballhead, with the level and the ability to go 180 degrees in two directions in order to get the vertical shots, and the panning function, make it easy to set up the shot you are after. The quick release plate goes on and off the camera easily by using a quarter to tighten/loosen the plate, and it clicks firmly into place on the ballhead. Just push a button to release. For use with a point and shoot, small video camera, or even a DSLR with a small zoom, it's perfect. For a small, extremely portable tripod, I don't think you could do any better!

Comments about Joby GorillaPod Hybrid Flexible Mini-Tripod with Ball Head - Gray/Black:
I know tripods make a considerable positive difference in photos. I've bought lots of tripods + monopods in hopes of finding one that I will actually lug around and use. Accept that I'm lazy and prone to travel as light as possible. This tripod is perfect for my Lumix Panasonic FZ35 (about 1 lb). Don't even use the ball head for adjustments, just adjust the legs. Can usually find something for the legs to grip. Or at the very least, brace it against my chest for a bit more camera stability - better than hand-held photos. Point is I have a tripod with me all the time - I leave it attached to my camera. So, no excuses! Bottomline, the best (and most expensive) tripod is useless in the closet. Been using this one since I got it. Now, I wish camera manufacturers would place the mounting post hole away from battery/card doors - that part is inconvenient.
