The Sirui T-005 5-Section Aluminum Tripod with C-10 Ball Head - Black is an excellent camera support for travelers who need a compact, lightweight, and stylish tripod & head combo. With upward-folding legs, it collapses to just 11.8" with the head attached and weighs just 2.2 lb. Supporting loads up to 8.4 lb, the head/tripod are plenty capable of supporting any DSLR camera with most lenses up to 300mm, as well as any point & shoot or compact camcorder. It's also extremely well-suited for mirrorless interchangeable-lens camera models.
The T-005 features silicone twist locks for easy setup, and with all four leg stages and the center column fully extended, the tripod reaches a maximum height of 54.6" with the head attached. The C-10 is an extremely capable ball head – its separate knobs for pan and tilt adjustments enable you to perform tasks such as panoramic photography while keeping the tilt locked.
With an Arca-style quick release platform and an included plate, the head also accepts plates from many manufacturers, including Sirui itself, Acratech, Foba, Graff, and Wimberley.

The tripod axiom is that you can only choose two: portable, sturdy, cheap. For a sturdy, cheap (and heavy) tripod, buy a Manfrotto. For a sturdy, portable (and expensive) tripod, buy a Gitzo. For portable, cheap (and flimsy) one, get an off-brand.
And if you want a tripod that performs reasonably in all three areas, buy the Sirui T-005.
I live in Africa, a land of unexpected beauty. I often stumble onto photographic opportunities that beg for a tripod: an unexpected waterfall, a lightning storm, a starry sky, a panoramic sunrise, a cave painting, a tiny insect, etc. My Manfrotto is rock solid, but because of its bulk, it stays at home or in the car 90% of the time.
I needed a tripod that would disappear into my backpack or SlingShot 202, then reappear whenever I needed it. It needed to be sturdy enough to hold my 7D and 70-200 f/2.8 IS without the ball head slipping. I needed to be able to shoot verticals with a 24-70 or 16-35 without the whole thing falling over. And it needed to be affordable.
The Sirui T-005 is exactly what I was looking for.
Some of the things I like most about it:
-It's unbelievably small. Pulling it out of my bag feels like doing a magic trick.
-It feels well-built. Everything moves fluidly and silently.
-With a little practice, the twist lock legs are very fast to open and close.
-I love the built-in hook below the center column where I can hang my backpack for extra stability.
-If everything is tightened properly, the ball head doesn't seem to creep even under a 7 lb load.
There are only a few things I don't like as much:
-After my grip-release ball head, I find it complicated to work two knobs, one for panning, one for tilting.
-If you don't have a hex key or screwdriver, you won't be able to tighten the shoe to your tripod mount. They include two hex keys - stash them wisely.
-Other reviews I read suggested that the center column is reversible. This isn't true. However, after collapsing the legs, this can shoot just over 1' above the ground, which is fine for me.
There are sturdier tripods out there, and cheaper ones, and even slightly lighter ones. But if I could custom-design a tripod to fit my travel photography needs, this is what the final product would look like.

I have just received my T-005 5-Section Aluminum Tripod with C-10 Ball Head. Had a friend coming over to visit bring it to me here in Siberia. Haven't used it yet, but first thing I noticed is the promised "quick release clamp" can't be released quickly because the C-series ball head does NOT have a security pin release button, despite the fact that it is referred to in the instructions. This will clearly make it more difficult to put on and take off the camera. I'll write a more substantial review after I've used it.

I used this tripod on my trip to Hawaii. It worked great. Light and easy to carry. Made it great when trekking through the rain forest. It held my Canon 60D on rough train. No vibration. Took me a while to get use to using it but with a new piece of equipment you are always on a learning curve.

Comments about Sirui T-005 5-Section Aluminum Tripod with C-10 Ball Head - Black:
I got this tripod so that I could take it on trips with me and have it pack down easily into a backpack. It went to the bottom of the grand canyon on it's first voyage and held up really well. Just make sure you don't loosen the leg sections all the way because you can pull them out and it is very tricky to get them back in place. It's sturdiest when you don't extend the top section. And it's heavier than I'd hoped for, but that's what makes it sturdy. Not for use in high winds. I had to hold it in place for timelapse photography on a footbridge where the wind was a bit intense.

Comments about Sirui T-005 5-Section Aluminum Tripod with C-10 Ball Head - Black:
Super piece of equipment for the photographer who must travel light. This is about the size and weight of a 1-liter bottle of soda and fits neatly inside the mid- to large-size camera bag.
I just took it on a two-week trip to Italy. In the day I did not mind carrying it even though I did not use it. At night it was invaluable for a lot of good photos.
Functions beautifully out of the box. Seems like a high quality product.
Caveats:
1) I find it a little tedious to open and close, but that's because there are five sections to each leg.
2) The ball head holds a heavy tele zoom just fine for horizontal photos but struggles with verticals.

This tripod is a very good travel companion, fits into my backpack. solid construction and feels durable. I have a Nikon D90 with 18-200mm and no issues so far although i havent tried it with strong winds. If there is one negative, I have a really hard time securing the locking plate onto the camera. This is perfect for traveling. I can go light because it fits in my carry-on or backpack. I am using it with a small Leica (not a full size with lenses) Could have been a bit taller for more versatility for shots, but since portability was my #1 concern, this is perfect. The great price was a bonus. It works as well for me as a more expensive one.

Tripod is great, compact yet tall, solid, well constructed.
The only problem comes from the head. First, there is no handle to screw the plate on your camera, and second, there is no quick lock system, so it takes time to put the plate with your camera on the head.
But still, it is a really good product especially if you consider the price.

Comments about Sirui T-005 5-Section Aluminum Tripod with C-10 Ball Head - Black:
I am very happy with this purchase. Very well built tripod, yet extremely light. Packs nicely and short (can go in the bag easily) .Ball head feels very good – low friction and smooth. Easily handles Canon 7D with Macro 100 mm (my heaviest lens) and there should be room for even larger lens. I often need desk top tripod for macro which does not take much space, provides good stability and is easy to set up. This is perfect for that. I was a bit concerned about max height (since I am a tall guy 6'5" that was not a problem at all . Do have to bend down a bit … but considering that is lighter than a camera body it is optimal. I do have vanguard heavy & tall tripod for outdoors if I need lots of stability but for travel this tripod is perfect. The way it folds is very good. Value is good.
