The Sirui N-2204 4-Section Carbon Fiber Tripod is a great tripod for travelers and other adventurous photographers who need to pack light and reserve the option to, at a moment's notice, slim down their camera's support system to just a monopod. The N-2204 features a leg that unscrews and attaches to a second included mounting plate and, optionally, the tripod's removable center column, to form a monopod that ranges from 16.9" (collapsed) to 66.2" high (with the center column attached).
Reaching a maximum height of 65", the tripod itself is quite versatile in its own right – the N-2204 weighs just 2.9 lb but supports up to 33 lb thanks to its thick upper leg sections and forged aluminum chassis. It's suitable for use with just about any head and any 35mm camera, DSLR, point & shoot, or camcorder.
The compact N-2204 tripod's legs fold upward 180° to achieve a relatively compact folded length of 18.1" – even with many camera head models attached. The entire package stays very compact to fit comfortably in most carry-on bags and many backpacks.
The tripod's center column is reversible, and the N-2204 comes with a short center column so that you can set up extremely close to the ground for ultra-low-angle shooting. With the short center column installed, you can set the legs at their wide angle (80°) and shoot from only 6.7" from the ground.

Comments about Sirui N-2204 4-Section Carbon Fiber Tripod:
There is a lot to like about this tripod. Well made, nice looking, light. But it lacked the twist and distortion resistance under pressure that I am looking for. I sent it back.

Comments about Sirui N-2204 4-Section Carbon Fiber Tripod:
Here's my setup mounted on the N-2204 Sirui tripod:
- Sony Alpha NEX-7 (variety of glass, largest being 18-200)
- Really Right Stuff BH-30-LR ballhead
- All+extra camera equipment carried in a Lowepro SlingShot 102 AW sling bag
This is my primarily setup for traveling (have an upcoming trip to Indonesia with lots of hiking for 10 days, for example). I was about to purchase the Gitzo GT1542T or GT2542T. Glad I didn't! Although GT1542T is a bit smaller and lighter the Sirui is definitely a sturdier tripod that will be better matched for my heavier camera (D800) so the slight size/weight difference is worth it imho. The GT2542T is apparently discontinued and no-one has them on sale anymore, so for literally 2x the price it wasn't worth it to me. Sirui build quality is top notch, the mechanical parts are tight and solid. Locking leg mechanism is smooth and has a good feel to it. Retractable spikes are definitely a bonus. It fits nicely on the side of my sling bag. The extra goodies (storage/carry bag), extra center column are a nice touch too. I've never used monopod but I might since this is an option now (another bonus!) and I can confirm that the connecting mechanism is as solid as it gets and you will absolutely not notice that one of the legs is convertible.
I hate buying things twice and feel like this tripod will serve well for my travel needs and even some local shooting for many years to come. I would strongly recommend this tripod to anyone considering a quality travel tripod that, while not exactly cheap, is probably one of the best value bargains in this category.

Comments about Sirui N-2204 4-Section Carbon Fiber Tripod:
Tripod design, construction, and performance - all excellent. Build quality (materials, fit-and-finish, attention to detail, precise operation of parts) - superior. Works beautifully and exactly as described by manufacturer/distributor. Inspection and use confirm favorable reviews, comments, and depictions - as presented in web sites, photo forums, YouTube videos, and Google images. Only had chance to use tripod a few times, but expect it to be reliable, and to last a long time. Based on experience thus far: I highly recommend.

Comments about Sirui N-2204 4-Section Carbon Fiber Tripod:
I know that is a bad infomecial line, but its true! :) I like haveing a product that is versital. With the one leg of this tripod that comes off & converts to a monopod it really is versital. I love it! Aside from that though, this tripod still great even as JUST a tripod! It is a great bargin when you consider what you get for the money. It is very stabil, has a high load capacity, lightweight & strong. Everything about this thing shows its quality of craftsmanship. You won't be disapointed!

Comments about Sirui N-2204 4-Section Carbon Fiber Tripod:
This tripod has a very good built quality, is extremely lightweight and very sturdy for this class of travel tripods. I use it with the Oben BC-1 ball head and it supports my 7D with a 70-200mm lens very well.
The tripod is very versatile since it comes with a short center column and can easily be turned into a monopod.
The given load capacity of 15kg seems to be a bit high. When extending the center column completely, I would definitely not load it with 15kg. Other than that I am very happy with this choice.
