I bought a Rokinon lens before that I loved, so when I went looking for an affordable fisheye this seemed to be the best answer. I am more than impressed with this lens. It is not too heavy or too light, I find the weight to be very comfortable in my hands. The angle is super wide! I was getting my hands and fingers in the shot at first. It looks wonderful, whether taking a picture in a small room, or getting broad landscape shots.

I thought I would only use this lens when shooting BMX, and dirtbiking... But I now find it to be one of my favorites for any occasion. I love taking this one to walk around with because it gives me so much range.

I was nervous, since there is no autofocus function. But set this lens to infinity and go! I've never had any problems with having to manual focus. Even in shooting high speed sports.

If you're considering buying a fisheye lens or even just a wide angle, this is the best bet! It is affordable and produces quality pictures.

I consider myself a "semi pro" photographer and thought I'd throw some more unique shots into my sets and this has done the job. By no means does this fulfill the majority of set but if you're creative with your perspective you can open up a very broad world, no pun intended. Point being fun but also practical with the right mind set. However I do wish I had gotten the Nikon for low light capabilities, but I have been able to capture some nice in church shots- dim ones at that, at F8, with no tripod. Wasn't the first shot though I wont lie to ya there. F8 is where this lens shines. F3.5 is garbage, F5.6 ok for "soccer mom" photos or if you don't mind some sharpening masking afterwards. The lens is solid in feel, tight "fit", and lens cover is easy on off and stays in place on the petals. Lens IS NOT calibrated properly for distance when manual focusing, you will have to do this. Google it. Once calibrated I found leaving it at 1.5' has it sharp near to infinity at F8. Yes you still have to manual focus the focus confirm is simply for your in camera focus light which is only right half the time. All in all not a bad lens, depends on your needs. I've made it work "on the job" but I need a little more low light performance so I'll be getting the Nikon 10.5, if all weddings were outside I'd keep it. F3.5 could have been workable, IF it was a usable aperture.

Comments about Rokinon 8mm Ultra Wide Angle f/3.5 Fisheye Lens for Nikon w/Focus Confirm Chip:

Ordered this lens recently and had a chance to use it already a good amount. The Fisheye distortion is fun to play with and the camera (D5100) has no problem measuring exposure. I was not sure about buying a manual focus lens but it has proven to not be a problem. Focusing is easy, specially with the huge DOF that it provides. At the widest apertures is not the sharpest but at 5.6 and beyond it's really great. Sharp and beautifil pictures.
It's great, and even greater for the price.

Comments about Rokinon 8mm Ultra Wide Angle f/3.5 Fisheye Lens for Nikon w/Focus Confirm Chip:

This was a great addition to my bag. It's quite different from the array of lenses I have for my Nikon D7000. You can do some creative and fun stuff with it as in the examples I posted. It's light and durable and the chip allows you to take advantage of the camera's automatic features. I can shoot in P,A, S, and M modes and it even worked in the scene mode on the D7000. Exposures were perfect and it works well in low light at ISO 1600. It's well worth the extra $80 over the mo0del without the chip. The only negative is that the lens cap is difficult to re-attach since there are no markings. The attachment to the camera is very precice and tight. B&H service was great - I got this 3 days after ordering it and was able to shoot the lighted boats in our neighborhood over the holidays. It is a great value at $[$].

Comments about Rokinon 8mm Ultra Wide Angle f/3.5 Fisheye Lens for Nikon w/Focus Confirm Chip:

Thos is the first lens I've purchased in 40 years as a photographer that wasn't a Nikon so I was skeptical about the results I could obtain. I have to say the photos taken with this fisheye on a cropped sensor are incredible. Great optics! Thinking of purchasing the Rokinon Cine lens now. I love this lens. 5 stars!

Comments about Rokinon 8mm Ultra Wide Angle f/3.5 Fisheye Lens for Nikon w/Focus Confirm Chip:

This is my first and only fisheye lens, so I cannot compare it to nikon's one or to any other manufactutrer. But Rokinon 8mm is a great addition to the lens line-up. Opens doors for creativity. I have used it on film camera as well (Nikon F100). Makes a black circle around image, but looks good othervise.
This is really not the sharpest lens. Focus ring is really of no use. At any distance, everything is equally in focus. Great buy, especially at this price.

Comments about Rokinon 8mm Ultra Wide Angle f/3.5 Fisheye Lens for Nikon w/Focus Confirm Chip:

This lens is optically very good and sharp. Built quality is excellent. However, the printed distance number on the focus ring is wrong. For example, focusing at 1ft target and you have to turn the focus ring closed to infinity (and vise vasa). Focus confirmation chip will not work for the target at 4ft or greater on my D7000. One good thing is DOF is huge. So, focus on closed target, and you will still get sharp image beyond your focused target.

I am an amature and this is my 1st manual lens. This lens was sharp right out of the box. Using on my Nikon D5200, just set the aperture ring to F/22 to allow the camera to control the aperture. On the camera use f/11-f/8. F/11 is the sweet spot. Set the focus ring to 1ft or 0.3m and you are set to shoot. Use those settings and you wont have to adjust it for anything! Way better than the 10mm that Nikkor has.

Comments about Rokinon 8mm Ultra Wide Angle f/3.5 Fisheye Lens for Nikon w/Focus Confirm Chip:

Got this about a week ago and have been playing with it ever since. Manual focus should not be a distraction as dof is massive. Chip works great for exposure and A/S modes, not so great for focus confirm (but then again its a fisheye). Not a heavy load at any rate; the bulging front element can occupy some space but otherwise it is fine. Front and rear caps work as they should. I find the projection of this lens to be interesting. It is definitely distorting as a fisheye should be, but not squishy in the corners as I have seen some other lenses do. A good job indeed. My only complaint with this lens is sharpness. Do not be fooled by thinking you will use this lens at f/3.5; this is really one of those cases in which a lens has a sweet spot. It starts getting better at f/5.6, peaks at f/11, and goes down from there. Not the best for interior shots with not enough light.Overall, this lens is great for its price. If you always had the dream of playing around with a fisheye of your own, go ahead and buy it. You will not be disappointed. For professional use (or for the pixel-pepper), I bet there are other choices out there that might suit your needs better.Good shooting :)

My wife bought me this lens for my birthday, and I have been using it like crazy. The FOV is amazing, and captures so much with each picture. Also, my wife and I noticed that the colors are much richer using this lens than my others. The Manual focus takes a little getting used to, but it is a fun and easy to use lens. I will recommend it to others.

A cheap fish eye, does not auto focus! It does not auto focus. I'm not sure what the chip inside does, maybe it helps the light meter read and gives it the ability to be shot in aperture priority and shutter priority. The saturation isn't as good as the 2.8 10.5, but it will shoot wide. In landscapes I've noticed the lens isn't as sharp when the focal point isn't relatively close. I like the lens and its fun to shoot, the lens doesn't have the white Nikon dot to match up the body and the lens so you have to carefully find its entrance.

This is a pretty nice fisheye lens, especially considering the price. The AE and Focus confirm chip allows Auto Exposure and will show when it is in focus. It does have an aperture ring as well, although my D5000 forced my to lock it at 22 and use the in camera aperture control. Image quality is great, and I have no complaints.

I haven't heard of this brand before, and I was reluctant to make a purchase. But after read through all the review, I decided give it a try. After a few test shot, and I was very impress with the result. This lens is awesome!

Very nice lens, this is my first fisheye, I use it on my D300. The first impression is very positive, of course it is not an all-round lens but is something that can give you a lot of fun!!!

Nice lenes for the money but I sent mine back and I am going to get the Nikon 10.5 instead.I had trouble with the focusing. And getting it to work in manual mode. Not that there is anything wrong with the lenes and I am sure that it is just my skill level. I loved the angles that you can use with a fish eye it is a lot of fun to use.

Comments about Rokinon 8mm Ultra Wide Angle f/3.5 Fisheye Lens for Nikon w/Focus Confirm Chip:

This is really an excellent fisheye lens compare to the name brands. Highly recommend for those who are in a tight budget. Its all about composing your shots and leaving your aperture to f/5.6. The only thing you cant do is add a filter, but that would be impossible to do to a fisheye. :)

Fantastic clear images with great color. I still cant believe this lens is this price, WITH the chip!!I read several reviews on this lens before purchase and everyone was 4-4.5 stars out of 5. I was still skeptical....but the proof is in the pictures. If youre looking for a sturdy, well built fisheye lens that delivers great images for your lens.
