The Background Paper Varidrive Set with Black Chain and Weight from Impact allow you to raise or lower your background paper with a minimum of effort in much the same way as you would raise and lower a flag. The two expandable cores that come with the system are inserted into both ends of your roll and tightened with a tension knob until your paper is securely held in place.
If you prefer your gear drive on the right (as you face your background support system), mount the expansion core's external channel to the background support system. If you prefer your gear drive is on the left, mount the expansion core's internal channel. Once that is accomplished, thread the chain through the gear drive. The chain has a small weight on it to help with stability. Varidrive chains are available in colors to help you distinguish the different drives when using a multiple background assembly. If you own three Varidrive sets, you can use three different background rolls by purchasing an optional Triple Hook Bracket. It should be noted that you should not attempt to mount rolls heavier than 22 lb (10 kg).

Comments about Impact Background Paper Varidrive Set with Black Chain and Weight:
Set up only took 5 minutes, . Remember to not tighten the adjustment screw on the opposite side of the chain to tightly. This is the drag adjustment. As to other reviews saying that it had to much resistance.

Comments about Impact Background Paper Varidrive Set with Black Chain and Weight:
Plastic chain easily gets twisted even after mounting. It also seems to have more resistance than others I have used. Absolutely make sure it is securely mounted.

Comments about Impact Background Paper Varidrive Set with Black Chain and Weight:
I'm currently using three of these impact varidrive chains for cored paper measuring around 20 feet long (9' wide). The rolls aren't heavy and these are providing excellent results so far. These are made well and I don't foresee these breaking any time soon. I do plan on adding a vinyl backdrop down the road at which point I'll be wise to invest in a metal chain instead.
I've also attached a 20 foot long muslin (9' wide) to a core and rolled it up no problem with these plastic chains. If a chain happens to break I have PLENTY of extra chain length to replace it with as I'm using less than half of it in a room with 8' foot ceilings.
I would buy these again at this great price!
