The Sony Extended Sheet Battery for 15.5" VAIO S / SE Series Laptops is a lithium-ion battery for laptop computers. Enjoy up to 12 hr of total combined battery life with an optional extended battery (not included)--double the standard battery life! Designed specifically for use with VAIO S / SE Series 15.5" laptops, this extended sheet battery provides extended battery life at home, in the office, or while on the road. Featuring a thin, light and hot swappable design, this sheet battery easily attaches right on top of your standard battery.
The sheet battery is compatible with the VGP-PRS25 VAIO S Series docking station (sold separately), but you can also charge this battery independently so you'll have power when you need it.

When you are away from an electric outlet or simply you don't want or can't move, having an extra attachable it's a really nice feature.
Having an extra battery means that you don't have to be worried about running out of batteries.
I't very easy to use and don't add too much weight or bulkiness to the PC.
It' lets you keep working, watching movies... on and on.
When the PC is running out of batteries, just attach the battery sheet and you will be safe.
And the best thing is that you can charge them separatly.
The only downfall I found is that it is a little too big to take it anywhere.

I have a music studio & have been using a desktop for years. I hooked up an additional monitor to the VAIO & have now gone wireless. I couldn't be happier with the setup & the VAIO. It's true value to me hasn't been completely determined as of yet, I'm still experimenting. As of now, I'm 100% satisfied & would strongly recommend this laptop to anyone who is doing their research & looking for a powerful easy to use device.

I honestly never take this battery off my laptop. Sure, my laptop is super-slim without it, but it's not too thick with the sheet battery and I can get almost 6 hours on a full charge. On "Speed" setting I get 2.5 hours easily. Definitely get this battery if you have a Vaio S.

Having the sheet battery makes me feel I actually have a portable computer; I'm not always worrying about the battery dying and needing to be near an ac outlet to plug in to work.
My wishlist for next generation...an even longer battery life and the battery should weigh less. The Vaio I bought is thankfully light weight but with the sheet battery attached it's your average to heavy weight for a computer.

Sony is on to something with the sheet battery. Its slim form factor is unobtrusive and twice the charge for mobile computing is nice. On my old laptop, I had to turn off the system to swap batteries. In some laptops, you have to sacrifice an optical drive to have a 2nd battery. Not so with Sony's sheet battery. I can just snap it on the bottom of my Vaio and go twice as long without AC power. When attached, it looks like it's just the bottom of the laptop. The sheet battery even comes with an adapter so you can connect it directly to AC power to charge without being connected to the laptop. Nice! The way the batteries charge when the sheet battery is connected is quirky. Only one battery can charge at a time. If the sheet battery has less of a charge than the internal battery, as was the case for me, it'll start charging first. In my experience, once the sheet battery charged to 80%, the primary battery started charging again until fully charged. The only problem I experienced with charging is the sheet battery didn't automatically start charging again when the primary hit 100%. I tried disconnecting the AC power for a second, then plugged it back in. That did the trick, and the sheet battery is on its way to 100%. But I took a star off of this review for having to do that.

Support is totally incapable of dealing with this new product. After attaching the sheet battery to my computer, the pimary battery stopped charging, and after half an hour and one escalation, support still could not solve my problem. Avoid buying the VPCSE with this sheet battery at all costs!
