Since the filter is custom made for the Sony Vaio 15.5", it is a perfect fit. It is a attached between the screen and chassis, which makes the filter look like it's part of the screen. No glue / tape is involved, so it can be removed and re-attached at will (though you'll need some fingernails to get a hold of it once it is in place).The screen size of the Vaio 15.5" seems to be quite unusual. I've not been able to find other filters that would fit perfectly. I.e. you would need to cut it and probably glue it or tape it in place. Not something I would like to do to my brand new computer.It works quite well, hiding the screen when you see it from a bit of an angle. People sitting next to you (on the train / airplane / ect) will literally be in the dark... But if you're really concerned about your privacy, you should make sure no-one is right behind you, which is naturally true for any privacy filter.It does make the screen a bit darker, even for the person sitting right in front of it, which in turn might have a negative impact on battery time (if you choose to increase brightness). I also find that the screen is not as sharp and crisp as it used to be. It is a little harder on the eyes.I have never used another privacy filter, though. So I really don't have anything to compare it with.

I you're an owner of a Sony VAIO S Series laptop and concerned about your on-screen privacy, then I'd highly recommend purchasing this screen filter from Sony! Not only is it a precision fit (made exactly for the S series) but the material feels really high quality along with an easy installation that should take the average person < 1 minute! There are only two drawbacks I found for this particular item - it's expensive given that the screen size for the S series is very rare, then only Sony makes a privacy filter to fit said size (i.e. proprietary); you can purchase screen filters bigger and then perhaps "cut" it down to the correct size but I'd rather not spend too much time doing that because it might not turn out the way I'd like it, etc. Thus, although expensive/proprietary, it's really worth it if you're looking for extra privacy when using your Sony S series laptop!
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
