The AF11602 Compact Ball Head System by BARSKA is constructed of die-cast aluminum, strong enough to support SLR or DSLR cameras with a medium lens, and light medium format cameras. It has a single repositionable locking lever for 360° panoramic rotation and a -90° tilt movement via a vertical cutout in the base. Cameras are attached to the ball head with the included quick release plate's 1/4"-20' male threads. The head to tripod attachment has 3/8" female threads with a 1/4"-20 adapter. Additionally, the quick release has a bubble level to facilitate panoramas.

For its price, it is very good. The locking lever was not that smooth initially. But after I sanded some metal off a curve and tightened a screw, it works very well. It is also a more-or-less greaseless design, which I prefer.

I am using this ball head system with my Manfrotto MMC3-02 compact monopod. The size is perfect for that monopod.This ball head system is pretty strudy and stable. I like the fact that it includes a leveler and a quick release. The quick release works great once you get the hang of it.I used this ball head system on a recent trip to Tofino, British Columbia and was able to achieve pretty spectacular results with my Canon Vixia R300 camcorder on full zoom.

I bought this head system to mount on my home-made counterbalance steady cam for shooting video with a DSLR. The BARSKA was one of the cheapest ones on this site which is why I bought it. It turned out to be a fantastic product. The build is all-metal and very high quality. The snap-in plate is quite helpful for quick attachment and detachment and the ball system is solid and stable allowing me to get previously impossible shots. This is exactly what I needed.
