I purchased this pack with the knowledge I would be acquiring many pieces of kit over this past year. This pack is a great all purpose bag that will carry plenty of gear in whichever conditions you will require.

I have taken it on a number of trips and it fulfilled exactly what I needed it to do. I have carried it through downtown Vancouver on many occasions and throughout Cabo San Lucas this past January, without so much as an awkward or suspicious gaze. The backpack is entirely black, with no bright or gaudy logos that scream "Expensive Camera Equipment Inside!" Even the Lowepro logo is blacked out, and small enough that you could cover it up with an iron on patch, though I would not necessarily recommend that.

It easily fits within airline carry-on specifications, so there is no need to worry about checking expensive equipment at the airport.

The bag has substance; it weighs around 4 pounds empty, and will only gain as you load up your kit. It feels durable and I got the impression I could load it to the gills, and it would stand up to all I could dish out. During my trip to Mexico, I loaded up every empty nook and cranny with the souvenirs I purchased and all told, it weighed a substantial amount, but did not feel as though it would burst at the seams. Thankfully, it has a waist strap that can tuck away inside the bag, as well as an adjustable chest strap. It has a hidden tripod holder that actually took me 3 weeks to discover. For those unsure, on the side of the bag with a pocket, it is folded away underneath the pocket and will hang below the flank of the bag. The unfortunate thing about the placement is if you are carrying a tripod and facing inclement weather, you will have to decide whether to use the All-weather cover and carry the tripod or risk water penetration.

It is Lowepro quality, but please do not take that to mean it is waterproof. On a catamaran, we faced rough water with waves coming overtop the deck. The bag was below my seat and a wave came up, immersed the bag for about 5 seconds, then drained away. For the most part, my equipment was dry though there were some areas that got wet. The laptop storage was wet (Thankfully only storing a sweater, pair of socks and 6 AA batteries), there was moisture inside the camera compartment, and there was moisture inside the front pocket. If you are around water, I would strongly recommend making use of the all-weather cover because you may not luck out as I did.

The camera storage pouch can hold plenty of equipment, though it is a tight fit for what I am carrying. I currently have a Canon 600ex-rt flash, which barely fits in the designated flash pocket. You may have to work it into place, and adjust the head to 75 degrees to make the flash appear more of a straight line. It will not fit with an omni-bounce on it. Below that, I have stored my TC-80n3 remote and 3 LP-E6 batteries. The main pocket holds a gripped Canon 7D with 70-200 f2.8 and lens hood attached. It will fit a gripped 5DIII in place of a 7D. It also holds a 24-70 f2.8 II with hood and 15-85 with hood, (It may be likely to fit a 16-35 f2.8 in place of this) and a memory card case. If you have a similar kit, you should be able to fit it in there.

To access your camera, simply take your right arm out, sling it across in front of you and unzip the bag. Do not unclip the strap unless you want your gear falling out. If you need to change a lens, you will have to set it down.

In the upper pouch, I can store plenty, whether it be a change of clothes, cleaning equipment or souvenirs, and there is an included transparent pocket which could fit an ID card. There is a key strap which you can clip your keys into. There is also an elastic strap at the bottom of the pouch, with which you could fit a filter wallet or something else that is a comparable size. The alternative is to use the included pouch designed to store cables and accessories. I personally use it to hold cleaning supplies.

On the outside of the bag, there is a hidden pocket which will hold a passport, albeit with a tight fit. By the same token, you could fit an iPhone 4S without a case in there too.

I really do love this bag. It does a great job, though I personally would make some alterations if Lowepro was taking constructive criticism. On the inside, I would add a stitch or two to be able to have a pen holder. I would add an extra centimeter to the pouch where you could fit a passport and have the flap extend by one inch so it could tuck in better. I would also increase the size of the padding for lumbar support. My reasoning is because having anything in the laptop compartment will inevitably end up pressing on your back and could cause some discomfort. I would change the material of the zipper pulls to be something more durable, or put loops so it could be locked and prevent the chance of theft due to the loops being slashed. Lastly, I would add more velcro to the inside compartment for customization of the setup.

All in all, it is a great bag. While I would make some improvements, it carries plenty of gear and has plenty of extra room to use. It is comfortable when you have it loaded right up (If not using the laptop compartment) and can haul a wide variety of lenses.

I just received my Fastpack 350 today and as I was packing it to test the functionality I noticed something very disturbing...If you do NOT have a long lens attached to the camera when packing it your dslr just sits in the compartment completely loose! The compartments are defaulted to a specific configuration making it difficult, if not impossible, to design a satisfactory fit. I was afraid my camera would fall out of the compartment upon opening! Seriously looking at returning this product.

Comments about Lowepro DSLR Video Fastpack 350 AW (Black):

This is the only backpack I have found that can handle my Goboxx 19" laptop and a camera setup. It seems to be well constructed and easy to get to stuff. It is a little tight for overhead storage on planes but it does fit.
I would prefer a little more padding, but it's hardly worth mentioning.

I purchased this bag for my DSLR, 3 lenses and some small accessories. Though this bag is enough for my gadgets, the overall size was too big for me. Hence I returned and bought the Lowepro Fastpack 250.

I am sure its a great bag for people who travel a lot.

I ordered this bag for a resent trip to accommodate a laptop along with my growing camera collection. My primary concern was space and ability to have my gear with me during the flight.

The bag performed exceptionally well! It fit perfectly in the overhead due to the shape of the top and held all of my electronics (camera, laptop, iPad mini, cell phone, headphones, etc.). The bag was very heavy however quite comfortable with all belts fastened.

It appears my carrying collection is growing just as big as the camera collection to suit all my various travel needs.

I use this for DSLR based video shooting. I like all the different compartments and how they are separated. The laptop area works great for storing my matte box as well. When strapping on a tri-pod it is a bit off balance, but not too much to become annoying. Sturdy construction, with a semi-hard/soft rigid protection that reassures me that my gear is protected.

Comments about Lowepro DSLR Video Fastpack 350 AW (Black):

I have tested out both the Fastpack 350 AW and the Fastpack 350. At first glance they appear the same but upon closer inspection there are some differences. Good and bad.

One thing that should have been carried over to the Fastpack 350 AW is the hip pads on the waist belt. There are none at all on the waist belt for the 350 AW, I suppose they thought the ability to stash the hip belt on the AW was a worthwhile trade off to be able to stash them away? The Fastpack 350 does not have the ability to stash the waist belt but it does have padding. The trade off in the AW IS NOT worth it. As an avid hiker I rather not be able to stash and have waist belt padding. Both would be ideal.

The Fastpack 350 AW seems to be geared more toward a video cameras and full frames only it appears. The section of the pack for a camera is much larger than most DSLR's. If you do not have a full frame or a grip on, it will move around significantly.

Why they reverted to traditional top loading laptop compartment is a good question as the side loading was more convenient and functional. The laptop compartment on the Fastpack 350 also seems thicker and better built then on the AW model.

The front flap over pouch compartment that is located on the camera compartment lid also lacking on the AW model is highly missed.

In the end it comes down to the only benefit to the Fastpack 350 AW over the regular 350 is the tripod holder and the rain cover. Of course the fabric on the Fastpack 350 seems better and claims its water proof, how much benefit is the rain hood???

Comments about Lowepro DSLR Video Fastpack 350 AW (Black):

First off lets get the size out of the way. It is not heavy, but bulky. This is to be expected for what it holds and for the nice padding.

With that said, this bag meets expectations. I can house in the camera area my D800, 50 1.8, 85 1.8, 105 2.5 and Tamron 28-75 with no worries. For accessories, I have a speed light, Kenko macro tubes and camera charger.

On the top compartment, I have an audio recorder, studio monitor headphones, and UltraPod, and a load of AA/AAA batteries, filters and have space for a light jacket/lunch.

I have yet to give it the full on hike test, but so far so good.

Comments about Lowepro DSLR Video Fastpack 350 AW (Black):

I love LowePro bags and this one didn't disappoint.

I ordered it because I wanted a good backpack for a trip I was taking. The gig involved air travel and my "old standby" camera bag was just too bulky and had no space for a laptop.

I originally saw the 250 version a couple of months ago in a retail store and, because I'm a DSLR video shooter, I was intrigued. I loved the concept but the 250 wasn't big enough. Some research led me to the larger 350 and the out-of-town gig was a perfect reason to pick one up for a test drive. Overall a great pack with some nice design features!

Here's a list of what's in my bag:
                5D Mark III
                70-200 2.8L IS
                24-105 4.0L IS
                16-35 2.8L
                100 2.8 Macro
                TC-80N3 Remote
                Battery Charger
5 Batteries (One Stays In Camera)
                5 SD Cards
                Lens Cloths
                Filter Holder
Sennheiser Evolution Wireless Set & Access
                Tram Wired Lavalier
                Small Shotgun Mic (Shoe Mount)
                Zoom H4n
                Full Size Headphones
                17" Laptop & Charger
                2.5" USB Hard Drive
                Wireless Mouse
                Eneloop AA Charger w/4 Batteries
                Small Roll of Gaff Tape
                USB Charger
                Micro USB Cable (for Phone)
                3 USB Flash Drives

It holds all of this with room to spare.

The only negative comment would be:

The tripod/rig holder is a good idea, but not very well executed. There is a pouch that hangs down below the bottom of the bag to stick the tripod legs (or one leg - it's a small pouch) and one of the existing side straps (oddly, there is no dedicated strap) holds it (vaguely) in place. It works, and I guess that's what matters, but it's less than elegant. I wish it felt more secure (a dedicated strap would help keep it from shifting around as you move) and I wish the pouch was positioned such that when you set the bag on the ground, the pouch/tripod legs don't interfere with it sitting flat.

I will say LowePro must have done some research when they decided on the bag dimensioning. It fits very well (snugly, and you have to do a little wiggling, but it fits!) under an airplane seat. It was handy to stow it, but still have access to my laptop, phone, iPod, etc. in flight. However, if you have big feet, be prepared for no foot room.

I haven't yet tried the quick access feature. I'm usually not shooting "run and gun", so that wasn't what attracted me to it, but it might come in handy at some point.

Overall the trip and shoot were a success, and in no small part because I had everything I needed with me. I was able to shoot and then quickly begin editing right on the spot, enabling me to meet tight deadlines.

Bottom line... it's a great bag. It won't hold everything, but it holds everything you'll want to carry for very long. Fully loaded the bag was 32 pounds - without a tripod (my tripod was in my suitcase during travel). I weigh about 135, so it was quite a load for someone my size. I didn't want to just stand around with it on my back. Generally, if we weren't on the move, I took it off.

Great quality. This is really large and fits all your gear inside. It's amazing how the upper section/pocket fit too much staff too. It fills like my previous backpacks were really small and not well divided. On the other end, I would love that the velcros divides inside the camera section/pocket were more customizable. At the moment, I am using it with a Nikon D5200 and six lenses: 8mm, 35mm, 50mm, 18-55mm, 18-250mm, and 70-300mm. Plus a notebook, a tablet, several cords, headphone etc.

Comments about Lowepro DSLR Video Fastpack 350 AW (Black):

I picked this up in the B&H Super Store on a trip to New York and I have been thrilled with it since. I purchased this bag as I wanted something I could take on backpacking trips and have all of my gear in only one place. In this bag I fit my: Canon5D Markii with the battery grip on and a 70-200mm lens attached, a 24-70mm lens, a fixed 50mm lens, a flash, a tablet, a laptop, my Holga 120Pan camera and 20 rolls of film, my phone, passport, keys, headphones, and tripod. This added a lot of weight, but I was so happy to have free hands to shoot and all of my gear in one bag. The waist and sternum straps are a great addition to balance you out and the padding on the back and shoulders makes it comfortable enough to carry this bag with all the gear for ages- I took it on a three hour, steep terrain hike and it felt great the whole time. This is a large bag, but it still is allowed as an airplane/bus carry on bag and was allowed in the museums I visited on my trip. I really love the hidden tripod pocket and top strap to keep it in place, and the hidden all weather cover for wet conditions. This bag ticked every box on my wishlist and the price was great. So I have to say, for my needs, this was and is the perfect backpack.

I needed a carry on bag that would allow me to take my camera and a few lenses, a laptop, some other stuff (hard drive, flashlight, usb keys), and some space for personal items; a book to read, wallet, keys, etc. I fit all that and there still was pleanty of space to spare. Maybe I could have gotten the 250AW instead, but the size difference is negligable, and the extra space allows for more gear in the future. This is a quality made bag, so I intend on having it for a while.

Comments about Lowepro DSLR Video Fastpack 350 AW (Black):

This is a large size backpack for a videographer. It has a compartment for all the standard gear. My only concern would be accessing the camera through the side while still strapped to my back, but that's a user preference thing - It is somewhat cumbersome to reach and I prefer not to risk dropping my camera.

It has more space that i can use. So makes it a good accessory for future when i will get more gear.

I use it with my Nikon D7000 with Nikon 70-200 f4 hood attached. My kit lens and nifty fifty.
                                    Great buy!!

Nicely designed bag with easy to reach pockets so you can quickly access your camera. Well-placed pockets to keep the little accessories organized. Compartment for laptop and assorted equipment lets you carry all you need for a day of shooting (so long as you only need to carry one extra lens around). There's also a rain cover that comes attached which looks like it should come in handy and be easy to take out and wrap around the bag when a downpour comes, but I haven't gotten a chance to test out that feature. The 350 wound up being too large to conveniently carry around. I can see it being difficult for, say, air travel since it's about as big or bigger than someone's typical carry-on bag. It didn't seem like the extra size of the 350 gave you that much more space so I went with the 250 which is exactly the same as the 350 except a tad smaller so easier to lug around and tuck away when not needed.
