This is what Nikon originally should have released with the Nikon 1 series. Maybe they are currently supplying this shoe cover with the Nikon 1 cameras now, but back when I got mine, the shoe cover was not secure and would fall out really easily. Needless to say, I recently lost it so was forced to purchase another. This shoe cover snaps in, because Nikon has modified it to have a clip on the bottom. Haven't lost it since!! 4 stars, because although a great product, this is what Nikon SHOULD have originally released.

The moment I first got the Nikon 1 V1 camera, with the removable acccessory/flash shoe cover, I was convinced it would be lost sometime soon, and I was not disappointed. The cover does not click firmly into place, has no option for a tether, and within a few months of camera use, I fulfilled my expectations. Nikon should have designed a better fit and locking mechanism for this piece. In fact, I bought two replacements, expecting a repeat performance. Fortunately, they are cheap and easy to replace.

I have owned a lot of shoe covers in my day, but THIS one is the cream of the crop. I HIGHLY recommend it as a replacement for your lost one. I bought THREE (because I lose shoe covers a LOT !!)

These are apparently easy to lose or misplace. After a while, they don't lock into the shoe and can be lost. That's what happened to me and I don't like dirt in the shoe so I ordered three to always have a couple in the bag.

The original hot-shoe cover Nikon designed for the V1 is too loose, very easy to lose. So of course after it falling out a bunch of times and me finding it I lost it permanently one day.
Bought two of these and it is night and day, the last !/4" it snaps in nice and tight. Unlikely to lose it now.

Needed a shoe cover for newly purchased Nikon 1V1 & was able to get it thru B&H. It had been difficult to find, because the camera was so new. This part is necessary to protect the hot shoe on the camera. It was perfect, shipped quickly, &I'm glad I found it. No complaints. Thanks

Current shoe cover is much less likely to get lost than the original cover. It's been revised to snap on and off less loosely. Four stars because it can still be lost when off the camera.

The original hot shoe cover came off during use. I decided to replace the cover and now the camera looks dressed. This replacement fits more snugly and has not dropped off during daily use. Hurrah!
