I am quite accustomed to products being difficult to integrate into a system. This one was a surprise. I installed it into my entertainment center so that it would send it's video and audio through my Harmon Kardon receiver. The installation went quickly. The only thing that took time was to find the code for this unit so I could control it with my Harmony One remote. A quick call to Logitec solved that. The Roku 2 XD worked from the start. Now I enjoy streaming video and the Roku unit works using my Harmony One remote. One remote for all.
The unit itself seems fast to me. The Netflix menus come up quickly, the movies start quickly and --- it is wonderfully quiet. Now I use it with Netflix, Amazon.com, and a few news programs.
The video seems to be of very high quality and the sound is excellent.
Enjoy. I think you will like it. I have been thinking of buying one for my kids :)

The Roku support people were very helpful in the setup of the unit which did take quite a bit longer than the 6 minutes stated on the box.
Also, most of the streaming channels would not broadcast outside the US which sort of left the unit of little use. So I had to return it. It also did not allow syncing with my laptop video files which was disappointing. I did like the small footprint of the unit though.

It arrived within seven days. I open the box and walla, I hooked it up to bedroom 40" LCD TV receiver. I ordered and extra HDMI cable. I was surprise the beautiful picture I received from Netflix. You have to subscribe to ROKOS webpage but they do not try to sell you more junk services that you do not need. It is the size of hockey pug. It beets a SONY HD player that I also have.

Second one with the same problem. It doesn't work in HDMI with my TV.
Google it: "Roku HDMI doesn't work". Haven't heard back from Roku tech support and it looks like I won't get a resolution anyway.
B&H was prompt in sending out a new one. Looks like I would have been better off getting the cheapest one. I probably will just keep it, but I won't like it.

The roku 2 xd is a great product that gives you just what you need for a great price, which is great if you're tired of paying for channels you don't need from conventional cable companies. It goes as far as you want it to go, you pay for everything you want and don't to get anything else with it. The only con i have is the lack of an Rf remote. It is annoying to constantly have to find a line of sight for the remote. Other than that is a great machine that i would recommend to anyone even if you weren't trying to save money.

My wife and I have been exploring options to cut the cable bill, with this device and some add-ons, I think we may just make it.Right now, this box is set up in our bedroom. I've installed all the public and private channels I think we can actually use, and they're great. However, we found that, even with subscriptions to Netflix and HuluPlus, we weren't completely satisfied with the available content. Hulu has some great stuff that they don't make available to HuluPlus apps on phones and, yes, the Roku. To combat this, I got a cheap used Windows machine from [@] for less than $(>2Ghz dual-core, 4GB RAM) and installed the trial for a service called PlayOn.PlayOn uses the computer's own browser and plugins to retrieve the web-based video content from services like Hulu, CBS, Food Network, etc, and can stream them to a private channel for Roku.This configuration has been much, much better - very smooth video most of the time, if not HD, then at least roughly SD quality. The channel isn't great, and it's not really a replacement for a real TV guide, but it replaces the 2-3 minutes we might spend channel surfing with the ability to simply browse by genre or network.All of the public Roku channels have worked great for us. The private channels are good, but a bit more hit-or-miss in terms of quality and stability.Coming from an AppleTV (which I also think is awesome) I was skeptical about the Roku and had heard that some generation-1 devices weren't that great. However, the Roku 2 device we've got is very smooth and performs all the streaming we could want without missing a beat. Hopefully we'll be buying 3 more of these and cutting the cable cord very soon.The one negative I'll give it is that text entry for service account information, search fields, etc can be very painful using the remote. We downloaded the Roku remote app for our phones and the experience there is excellent, if not quite as smooth as that for the Apple TV.

I bought this for my parents so that they could stream Netflix to their TV. Unfortunately, I was not able to set it up for them before I left. Because of the simplicity, they were able to set it up with no problem even though they are not very tech savvy. They have had no problems with it and are absolutely thrilled with being able to access Netflix, Pandora and their favorite station, TED.

I bought this for my father at Father's Day, after buying one, and then two (you need one for each TV you use it with), for my own apartment. I initially bought the cheaper, ~$60 model, but could not get the wireless to connect even after hours on the phone with tech support (that one would get one star--it was an awful experience, and don't expect much, if anything, from their support line).
But I returned it and tried this one, and it worked immediately. We love it at my apartment--we dumped our Tivos and just got Netflix and Hulu instead--and my father was able to set it up in just a few minutes and thinks it's a lot of fun too. The sheer variety of channels is fun to browse through, and Google Roku private channels to get even more.
We're not ready to ditch cable entirely--particularly since saving the $20 or so is almost not worth it when you have a triple bundle--but I can see more frugal people being able to do so happily. HBOGo and the Flex channels are awesome; we haven't used it too much, but with Flex, you don't need Widi capability or a tuner for your computer/laptop, so that saves you $100 alone. I highly recommend this little box. It's a bit redundant if you already have cable, but what it offers otherwise makes up for the overlap in what you already have with VOD. And if you don't want On Demand, you can definitely get by with this thing, and quite cheaply.

I heard about Roku from my brother a few years ago who raved about the product. I was skeptical at first but now I'm hooked to it as well. It's so user friendly, easy to install, and a breeze to use. Once you set it up with your tv, just follow the step by step instructions and you're good to go. Streaming from Netflix and Crackle are flawless and I havent had any problems yet. Does what is advertises, switches to AND REMAINS in HD after 5-10s of starting a show on Netflix. Haven't really found many other (free) channels worth anything though. I have a '08 vintage plasma and am not sure new internet TVs do the same as a Roku.
Only thing I didn't like was it requires a credit card to activate and keep on file incase you want to "buy a channel". I'm not a fan of keeping cards on file w/companies.
