I was looking for a power port on my new Canon PowerShot SX40 HS Camera so I could shoot for extended periods with out having to depend on the battery running out.
I didn't know that this camera did not come with a power slot but did some searching and found this was the kit I was looking for.
The quality is great built by Canon not some off brand. Everything fits perfectly and the door for the adapter/battery closes with a little slot at the bottom to route the cord out to the plug.
For me shooting video for extended periods this is very much needed and well worth the price.

Plug-in is simple, and there's a small "hatch" on the battery cover to accommodate the cord for this AC adapter. This was fantastic to use while waiting for the batteries to charge up for the first time, and also during extended photo shoots. The cord is even fairly long.

I need to use the SX40 as a video camera and do not want the battery to run out. This adapter does what it is suppose to do. It is very light, be careful storing it, it seems like it could break easily. Find an outlet, or an external power source, (which I have), you are good to go, and no need to worry about changing batteries. I have not use it for a long time yet, therefore i do not know whether the cords or the adpater battery will run hot. With my canon S5IS, the power cord plugs directly into the camera. The SX40 has a battery which goes into the battery compactment (which i fond out after i bought it) and cords to be plug into an outlet. waiting to try out the HD video!

This adapter made it possible for my wife to sit and be ready for a picture opportunity with our digital camera without having to turn the camera on, re-aim and refocus, which is what is normally required with a digital camera. Very pleased with it.
