I use these for taking macro photos of just about anything, and they simply work although there are a few drawbacks. Given the price, I wouldn't expect much more, but remember everything is manual. You must set the aperature manually by pressing the depth of field preview button, take the lens off while while holding the button so the aperature stays, then mount the tubes. One drawback to this is that if you use all the tubes and stop your lens down very far the viewfinder is very dark and difficult to determine focux unless you have an external light on the subject. Also, there is a small springloaded metal thing (cleat) that is what locks the lens on to the last tube. It is slightly flimsy and loose. A heavy lens used with this if jiggled the right way can come off the cleat and fall off. For the price though, and if you're willing to not expect too much out of them they're fine for the money. After a while though you may get tired of them and go for the $100-$200 types that have the electronics in them. They will turn any lens into a macro lens.

Let's face it, they are just tubes you stack to get the lens further from the camera body which increases the macro capabilities of your lens. It's an inexpensive way to see if you like macro photography before you invest in a good macro lens.

You lose auto focus and you have to experiment with how many extensions you can stack before losing all focus on your lens. You may have to get so close that your lens nearly touches your subject so consider external lighting also.

Now for the trick...Many have complained that the connector ring got stuck to the lens and would not release. I had this problem too and there are NO instructions included. But, after a little research on the Internet I learned that the silver release post SLIDES to release. I was trying to push it, pull it, even loosened it to the point that it came off the ring. I then had to make sure I got the holes to line up before screwing it back in. Anyway, now that I know how the release works I am pretty pleased. I am still very careful with the rings as they prob are not the best quality made ones out there, but they work as promised and are low priced.

Cheap Alternative To The Real Thing

Comments about Dot Line Manual Extension Tube Set for EOS:

4 stars because it is so cheap. I tried this for a while and got some decent results. But, I just threw them on my kit lens and seemed to work fine. The lens really has to be close to your subject or you'll never get it in focus. I haven't had any problems with anything getting stuck like others have reported. Good buy if you want to explore macro or play around from time to time while spending basically zero money. If you want to be serious about it, get something else.

The rings have a solid build quality, but the connections seem a little weak when used with a heavy lense. Not enough to ruin the picture though. Works fine as expected.
          Nice kit worth the money.

Comments about Dot Line Manual Extension Tube Set for EOS:

These are poorly designed in that you only have the one male and one female bayonet, you have to screw these together then screw the bayonet ends on. Most of the other available sets are easier to mix and match for various lengths. Plus the release knob broke off on my second use, almost damaged my 24-105 lens trying to get it off.

I use the product for in camera VFX. This works as well as the $80 versions with the only downside being that there is one lens mount and one camera mount. You basically take the ring or combination of rings and put each mount on each end. Lens changes or maco tube changes take slightly longer, but not a big deal.A definite buy if you need a cheap (but same quality results) close focus capability. Note: Any macro tubes will cause a reduction in quality as a smaller area of the lens is directing light onto the sensor. Quality will vary greatly with different lenses.

I am very satisfied. The only draw back is it is manual, but for a fraction of the cost I can take heed to slight patience when getting my shot.

Used these to photograph macro shots of eyes results were phenomenal. The loss of light makes it difficult to focus the lens & you have to remember to set the F-stop on the lens before you remove it from your camera but if you're looking for image quality these extension tubes will have no negative effect.
