The GoPro HD HERO2 Surf Edition is specifically designed for shooting HD video while you surf. Capture 1080p at 30 frames per second (fps), 960p at 48 or 30 fps, and 720p video at 30 or 60 fps, as well as 5, 8 or 11 megapixel digital still photos. The HD HERO2 Surf Edition can be mounted to your board with adhesive base mounts or the FCS fin plug mount, and of course, using the housing that's waterproof up to 197 ft (60m). Plus, plenty of optional accessories can be used with the camera for shooting in a variety of other settings.
In addition to giving you shooting capabilities almost anywhere, the HD HERO Surf Edition features an integrated battery warmer, Wi-Fi BacPac / Wi-Fi Remote compatibility and an easy-to-use LCD interface. Plus, the camera has LED lights viewable from any angle and can support shooting bursts of 10 photos per second. You can recharge the battery while you record via USB cable and enjoy time-lapse photography every 0.5, 1, 2, 5, 10, 30 or 60 seconds. The HD HERO2 Surf Edition even supports live streaming from the web and Wi-Fi video preview and playback on your smartphone, tablet, laptop or desktop computer.

Great video camera, loved using the timelapse function but disappointed in the quality of the camera and housing.
Had GoPro for approx a week. Second time that I used the camera in the surf it allowed drops of water into the housing. Due to the poor design of having opened connections (HDMI, USB, memory card slot), drops entered the camera and caused it to stop working. I must stress that the housing was not flooded and that the camera was a little damp.
Checked the warranty and it is not covered for water damage. Its a underwater camera that's poorly design against minor water exposure. I understand that they cant cover user error but I have used professional underwater equipment for a number of years without issues.
I am going to buy another GoPro and I did enjoy using it. However I am going to better weatherproof the GoPro.

The Hero 2 has been a great camara, I've got a couple of these and just love them. I use them for scuba diving and putting on my motocross bike. I've been seeing how much trouble people are having with the hero 3 and I'm glad I've stayed with the Hero 2.

We use the GoPro for POV shots on vehicles when we test drive them. We bought this Hero2 to replace our original Hero after it was damaged on location. It was important to be able to use all of our existing accessories. I love the improvements over the first Hero especially the higher quality lens, better low light performance & Protune mode.

Have used in many video projects including POV cam, dashboard cam, hood cam and others. The most interesting was while surf fishing of the New Jersey coast. The HD HERO2 was part of a blue fish rig. So interesting to see the bait's POV! The underwater housing offers FULL protection from water AND surf impact after casting!
The owners manual required a few reads and re-reads. But you will be up and running in short order!!

my friend practicing stand-up surfing and he asked me to buy a Go Pro Hero 2 surf edition, so he could record all his evolution in the sport, as practiced recently. The camera is small but very high quality and obviously waterproof. I recommend to all who are interested. To make fun on the beach, put on a show on the board or enjoy a sunny day, the GoPro Camera is perfect for recording all those moments. Ideal to be attached to the surfboard, paddleboard or in the nozzle, the camera can film or take pictures of the moment that the surfer is on the board, inside a tube or enjoying the calm of the sea. It is sensational!

I was disappointed in the lack of information in the manual. It could've been a lot more elaborate, especially on how to use different features. It would've been very helpful if it could have shown how to do the various different affects that it is capable of. The instructions were lacking all the way around.

Used it on the last day of sailing class so my boat mate and I could see how goofy we looked. What a great day of sailing. Set it to fire every 30 sec. When I got home, I downloaded the card and was amazed. Quality,fun,excited,and wow factor. One battery,suction cup, and orange floaty.

Used it on the last day of sailing class so my boat mate and I could see how goofy we looked. What a great day of sailing. Set it to fire every 30 sec. When I got home, I downloaded the card and was amazed. Quality,fun,excited,and wow factor. One battery,suction cup, and orange floaty.

Great like the GoPro Hero, but disappointing that there areno instructions for DIY or case mod for external mike jack - easy to do with drill. Don't forget your 32GB of class 10 memory.
