Awesome little unit if you are a one-person crew on the move. Transports perfectly without a car or cart, fits nicely into the Manfrotto LBAG110 and rests perfectly atop the Pearstone 2500B tripod, all bought from B&H.

Super smoothe, booms up to 8 ft, down to practically 0 depending on the tripod. Folds up into itself, and total setup time is about 10 mins.

I shoot many classical music concerts and this fotocrane is absolute gold, makes the videos look expensive and time-consuming. Neither is true, a nifty secret.

One flaw: metal L-bar attachment to tripod is not perfectly 90-degrees, so I have attached a ball head to the fotocrane head platform to compensate. Invest in three bubble levels, one for the tripod, the fotocrane and the actual video camera and you'll be perfectly set.

If you are a videographer who loves the camera in motion, this unit is for you. It is delicate, not rugged, so it must be treated with care. So long as one is careful with it, it should last for years.

The product is portable and relatively easy to setup. But the build of the product is poorly build. The disc for the crane to maneuver up and down is very jerky and not smooth (You wouldn't want that kind of video shot). The material they used for this crane can be better.

When using the crane, you can hear the crane parts moving! I guess is produced by the friction!

Overall, very disappointed with this product.

Easily adjustable and allows talent to stay in frame while changing elevation. Price seems reasonable. Love this crane.

Comments about CobraCrane FotoCrane UltraLite Single Bar Jib:

As an amateur photographer this little jib changed my recordings from so-so to excellent. It's long enough to add that extra finish to your video. I bought a sandbag too, to make it all more transportable in the terrain. Some complained about the construction. Don't listen, its solid and does the job. The wire is an easy mount, but screw it onto the tripod is a bit tricky, so get a quick clip and you can rig it in notime. The key here is to balane it well with weight/sandbag. I use it for a Canon 7D with all my lences, in all kind of weather - down to minus 20 celsius.
I recommend this for anyone looking for a low cost jib that is transportable in a backpack.

Nice Stable product, helps me shoot smoother looking video. I wish there was a way to keep metal wire that levels off the camera attached even while in folded possition. Each time you extend all pieces you need to reinstal the wire, takes long time to set up. Otherwise great product , i like using it

Comments about CobraCrane FotoCrane UltraLite Single Bar Jib:

This is a very basic jib, which works with a pulley. It does work, and it's lightweight, but it's not very portable - when you collapse it you have to be very careful not to lose the pulley wire. Also, it's bring your own counterweight - weights are not supplied, not even an empty weight bag. But for the price, you do get a working jib, and for certain things, that's indispensable.

Comments about CobraCrane FotoCrane UltraLite Single Bar Jib:

I didn´t know what to expect of this crane, due to all the negative reviews. But I found a really smooth crane and a very light and easy to carry around crane. Just bought my weights and everything runs smoothly. My girlfriend used this crane on a wedding and she did pretty awesome shots on her first day of using it! And the price is really awesome as well!
You will need a decent tripod, though. My Pearstone tripod did awesome.
Once you figure it out how to set it up, it´ll take you five to eight minutes to be ready for those awesome shots!
For all those who didn´t like this crane... learn to use it!!

Good product, but needs a compatible Cobra Crane or similar tripod to support the weight. Great for smooth movement, rather easy to put together. I wish it came with some sort of carrying equipment though so that it was easier to transport: a bag or hard case.

It does the trick. It's light weight and fairly easy to assemble.

It could have been easier to assemble.
The attachment to the tripod could have been more centered in order to make it more balanced.

But all in all, for that price, it's good value.

It really does deserve 5 stars, yet the main rotator disc tends to get damaged during shipping and the locking clamps could use a little tightening themselves. I called CobraCrane directly and they sent replacement parts ASAP and I used the crane that very same weekend to shoot an event. Very unique shots and worked well for capturing events with lots of people in detail. Also, it is SUPER light and portable, which was a MUST for me. Overall, I am very impressed and would recommend to others! Just be prepared to do some fixes and adjustments upon arrival.

Comments about CobraCrane FotoCrane UltraLite Single Bar Jib:

The jib is light. Portable. Does the job. The only problem is its a bit wobbly, but nothing that a smooth arm or practice cant eliminate. I was worried with all the reviews stating that components werent very well built. With that being said, it worked well for awhile. On the third use, a grommet that locks down the extension snapped. I dont know if its replaceable, but now the weight arm extension wont lock. I am going to run to the local hardware store and hope I can fix this issue myself. The shots I did manage to shoot did turn out well. So tread carefully. Its also kind of cumbersome to lock down your camera to the unit, takes a couple "educated guesses" to get the screw lined up right. I would reccomend this with caution because it does the job, I just dont know how durable the whole thing will end up being.

Comments about CobraCrane FotoCrane UltraLite Single Bar Jib:

I am absolutely new to cranes and therefore wanted to test several before making my selection. I tested (3) FotoCranes the Ultra Lite Single, Ultra Lite Extreme and Backpacker before selecting the Ultra Lite Single. To begin with the Ultra Lite Single and Ultra Lite Extreme Kits come with the bag as a stock accessory. Although not the sturdiest of zippers the ballistic nylon is tough enough to effectively protect and carry your jib. The backpack shoulder straps and removable single shoulder strap also provide a variety of methods to carry when traveling.

I tested all (3) cranes using both a Canon 5D MarkII and 7D with prime 20mm and 50mm lens and a Zacuto viewfinder frame already attached to the camera body.

I used a Manfrotto 501 HDV head (just recently sadly discontinued) and an older Bogen tripod rated at holding approx. 18 lbs. I recommend using a tripod leg and head combination that still has weight capacity headroom when all items have been totaled. It also is a good idea to add extra weight to the tripod. I personally hung a 5lb. sand bag from the center supports.

                My results are as follows:

The Backpacker is the shortest arm and also the heaviest material made for larger heavier cameras. The extension arm fastener is fairly insignificant and cause jerks during moves because it shifts. The configuration of this crane also dictated that the operator is required to use their right hand to control the jib arm and the left to control the tilt of the camera via tripod arm. This can be very awkward at first.

The Ultra Lite Extreme is a two-part crane with smaller arm and an extension. This jib is made of lighter weight aluminum, which is still sturdy enough to counterbalance with no lateral torque at the end of the jib ensuring the camera is plum and square. This is a great crane that provides incredibly wide low sweeping shots as well as the dramatic overhead scenic shots. It also increases the length of the crane so it no longer fits in the bag and must be broken down before storing. Adding the extension takes about (5) minutes. This crane also shared the same hand configuration as the backpacker.

The first Ultra Lite Single I ordered arrived damaged to the point I had to return/exchange. When the replacement arrived the camera arm was slightly less than square, but that was easily remedied with a small level and torqueing the arm in the opposite direction while mounted to the tripod.

However, with that said, the Ultra Lite Single was probably my favorite. Not only the cheapest, it is the easiest to set up and operate. To my surprise the hand configuration was the opposite from the above and therefore immediately more intuitive and comfortable.

The single arm extends at both ends and full extended is slightly longer than the Ultra Lite Extreme (w/o the extension), which for me is the perfect height. This crane allows for easy operation in both tight and larger spaces. The cable mechanism is also superior. It is easier to assemble and dial in for the exact tension necessary to provide smooth tilt moves. The follow feature makes operating the jib more intuitive. Understand this is a lightweight jib and therefore when handling the jib arm the operator needs to be much more conscientious and gentle. If you are not the sole operator you definitely want to pass this tip along.

When properly counterbalanced, I ended up using 7lbs plus I strapped on ankle weight with removable sandbags to adjust the weight for various lens and camera accessories. It took very little time to get comfortable with the setup and begin operating adding smooth cinematic moves while exponentially increasing the production value at relatively very little cost.

Comments about CobraCrane FotoCrane UltraLite Single Bar Jib:

The product is portable and relatively easy to setup. But the build of the product is poorly build. The disc for the crane to maneuver up and down is very jerky and not smooth (You wouldn't want that kind of video shot). The material they used for this crane can be better.

When using the crane, you can hear the crane parts moving! I guess is produced by the friction!

Overall, very disappointed with this product.

Comments about CobraCrane FotoCrane UltraLite Single Bar Jib:

I bought this crane directly from CobraCrane USA. They were awesome. I'm using it with the 701 hdv fluid head and the 547b manfrotto legs. The crane itself is a little on the heavy side when trying to set up with only one person. The mounting holes are a bit tricky. I find that the best screws to use are (2) 1/4 screws to keep the tripod locked in place. Takes a little getting used to, the cobra crane bag is a must as well. Really handy for transportation. Make sure your tripod legs are screwed in tight as I realized that one of my legs would slowly ease it's way down.

Product had defects in the metal that made locking it down unusable, i was able to get it to work by removing a bolt. Don't know how this passed quality control? other than that it works fine..
