The SE-208AB Slim External DVD-Writer USB2 (Black) from Samsung has an exclusive audio / video connection technology available in it which allows users to easily connect the TV media in the drive to the USB port to play audio-visual content. The SE-208AB is also technologically stronger than the previous disc drive, which has so far recognized only the first-level sub-directories and 1000 files. The SE-208AB disc burner now recognizes and provides access to the fifth level sub-directories, and more than 3000 files.
External disc drive offers a variety of writing speeds of different types of media: 24X CD-ROM, 24X CD-RW and 8X DVD ± R 5X DVD-RAM, 6X DVD + R Dual Layer, 6X DVD-R Dual Layer, 8X DVD + RW and 6X DVD-RW disc for burning.

Bought this to load my software onto my new Mac...which DID NOT come with a DVD drive! It did the job well. BUT the two USB connections needed are on a short cord, which isn't a problem with MOST computers. Then again....my new Mac has one port on each side of the computer...creating the need for an extension USB cord. My disappointment lies with the new computer...not with the Samsung equipment. Just wanted to let others know about the cord situation, in case their computer has the same issue as mine.

It might be a fine product, but the NERO software won't install, so I can't say for sure. NERO says I need a number of Microsoft programs installed in order for it to work. One (at least) won't install from the disk. I went to Microsoft. com and installed it manually. NERO still says it's not there, so the NERO software stops installing...and so I can't use the Samsung drive.

I chose this product over repairing my laptop dvd drive. I like the fact that it only has one cable which uses 2 usb ports on the computer. I plugged it in and it worked great. I haven't burned anything with it yet. Light weight, and slim.

Was eager to get this DVD writer to create restore disks for new netbook. Was alarmed when I had 2 failures with TDK DVR-R DVD's, but swiched to Staples brand DVD-R which worked great. Also burned CD's successfully. It requires 2 USB ports to function, which is a pain when the netbook has 3 total, but I think that's how these portables are engineered. At least I don't have to carry an adapter too.The bonus free pouch is nice to have and influenced my buying decision, but it is just a slip case that is open at the top and not thick enough to protect the writer incase of a drop.Delivery was prompt.

I used this CD/DVD player to upload programs to my computer, since my new computer doesn't have one. The only issue that I had when I received it, it had a little trouble opening. I had to play with it for a while to get it to work, but after, it worked fine.
