The Epson PowerLite X12 Multimedia Projector is designed to deliver great performance by utilizing a 3-chip optical engine with 3LCD technology and native XGA 1024 x 768 resolution. With a brilliant 2800 ANSI lumens you'll realize every detail of your presentation, even in rooms with high levels of ambient light. You can leave the lights on for note taking or educational purposes.
This projector is PC friendly. You can plug your PC into its USB Type B port and play both video and audio through the projector. Other friendly features include closed captioning for noisy environments or the hearing impaired, and color modes for gaming, photos, presentations, blackboard/whiteboard and sports.
The PowerLite X12 Multimedia projector has an international 100 to 240 V AC 50/60 Hz power supply, and can handle NTSC, PAL and SECAM TV signals so it can go anywhere you can. And since it weighs in at only 5.1 lb (2.3 kg) it probably will. Just to make sure it doesn't take any unexpected side trips, multiple security measures are included in the form of a Kensington lock, padlock and security anchor bar.
Finally, the affordable X12 continues to save you money after your initial purchase. The low power consumption system coupled with an E-TORL lamp provide up to 5000 hours lamp life and a whisper quiet 29dB in eco mode.

I'm using this projecter as part of multimedia art installations, primarily in pop-up gallery settings and alternative performance spaces. I needed something that would be bright enough to be visable with some ambient light, and accomodate both VGA and HDMI inputs. I'm impressed with the advanced, yet easy-to-use feature set, and the reasonably priced replacement bulbs, which should always be a factor when considering the purchase of a projector. Epson has a long history of producing great products, and I feel that the 3 chip LED system will preserve the quality of the complex images I project. B&H saved me $$ on this purchase, for which I am very grateful.

If you're only showing photos, and you don't particularly care about the level of detail, you might be very happy - the unit is light weight, very quiet, very bright, and has keystone correction in Vert AND Horizontal - a unique feature I found out.
I had to trade up to a full 1920 HD unit. Bigger, heavier, more expensive - but so much sharper!

Comments about Epson PowerLite X12 Multimedia Projector:
I purchased this specifically for powerpoint presentations while travelling, and to play presentation DVDs to a room of 100 people or so. Literally plug and play - 30 second setup which means plugging in the power cord, plug in an HDMI cord to laptop, power on; done. No issues with bright daylight in the room. The movie was vivid and powerpoint was perfect. The only reason 4 stars instead of 5 is the sound is a simple speaker. It's loud enough, just not stereo sound.

Comments about Epson PowerLite X12 Multimedia Projector:
I've only just received the projector and fired it up for testing. It seems fairly bright shining on my dining room wall. Plugged an ipad into it and image came up right away. Very easy to control keystone, zoom, & focus with adjustments right on the casing of the projector. I wouldn't get this for a real high-end application but it's a great, small projector for family functions, presentations, etc. I plan to use it to display slideshows at weddings. It's portable but bright which is what I was looking for.

Projecting to an old 116" screen, color looks better than my off brand LCD monitor. And it blew my DLP 2500 lumens projector away in terms of brightness and color.

Comments about Epson PowerLite X12 Multimedia Projector:
I picked this because of the price point, and because I wasn't too concerned about having HD quality for the occasional movie night. Definitely if you are looking for a serious home theatre setup this is not for you, but if like me you just think it's cool to have a projector and won't be nit picking the color quality then go for it.

Comments about Epson PowerLite X12 Multimedia Projector:
I travel to a variety of venues for educational presentations. I never know what sort of equipment awaits me. Now all I need is electricity and a wall - problems solved. The 2800 lumens and excellent resolution make the graphics clear and readable even in a bright room. The USB input means I don't even have to take a computer with me - I can run PowerPoint slides straight from the projector. The HDMI connector lets me project video from my phone or tablet as well. It is larger/heavier than my ideal, but the performance is worth the extra pounds.

Comments about Epson PowerLite X12 Multimedia Projector:
So easy to set up it's intuitive. Light; easily transported; case/cables included; great that I can run a program directly off a flash drive w/out computer....one less thing that I have to carry with me. Optics acceptable for a unit of this price but not as sharp as they could be. If absolute clarity of image is paramount to you, get a higher priced unit.

I ordered this projector because I was looking for an entertainment solution for my living room that wouldnt break the bank. @2800 lumesns it is bright enought to watch even with some ambient light. The image is crisp and the colors are vivid. The only reason why I cant give it 5 stars is because it does not have audio output which means that if you use HDMI you would be limited to hearing your sound from the projector as opposed to being able to plug in some external speakers. Apart from that no problems here

While looking for a projector that would fit all our needs as a faculty development department that provides a variety of workshops, seminars, and training, our IT department recommended the Epson PowerLite X12 Multimedia Projector. We were so impressed with the ease of use,it's portability and the many options it provided, we decided to invest in a second projector. Now when one of our staff is doing training off-campus and another is presenting on-campus, we do not have to borrow or rent an additional projector that may or may not work with our sound system, laptop and other equipment we use. I would recommend this to anyone who is looking for a high quality projector from a company who provides excellent customer service.

I use this to display videos and slide shows. I purchased a 70" screen and was impressed with the brightness and resolution. The 1080i cost more than twice so this was an excellent alternative. While projecting a bluray from the hdmi port, it viewed sharp at 70" across, but not crisp as HD. If you demand HD resolution then spend the money. The only con is a lack of audio out. I did port the audio out from the bluray player so that worked. It plays slide shows from usb which is great. I'm very pleased!

We purchased this unit to replace an older ViewSonic that failed after 8 years. The main issue I have had is not all projectors will link to my laptop(s) easily. This has the USB hub but I did not even have to install the hardware since it sync'd directly with the VGA cable with no difficulty.
I use the system for meetings, PPT presentations and safety meeting videos. This appears to have plenty of power and ease of use. Since it is new, we have not had a lot of experience with it but I am confident it will perform well.

There are so many different makes and models to make a comparison. I can say I was very pleased with the ease of use, brightness and especially the vertical and horizontal keystone adjustments. Being able to set the unit up someplace other than the center of the room is just great! It is bright enough to use is a well lit classroom.Bonus is being able to present PPT without a computer directly from a memory stick. Audio/video mute. Ability to setup a power up or video mute logo from what is being projected. The unit is a great value.

Using as a home theater projector. Very clear and colorful image. Compact and lightweight. Super-easy setup and menus.
Slightly noisy fan (tho much quieter when running in ECO mode).
Only real problem (if you can call it that) for my use is that the lens makes this a wide-angle projector. I have a 100" screen, and the projector can be placed no more than 120" away otherwise the image pours off the sides. This is exacerbated by the limited zoom range on the lens.
