Made from non-reflective, heavy duty anodized aluminum tubing, each section is fully air cushioned to provide maximum safety for sensitive lighting equipment. Air cushioning gently lowers the light, preventing damage to light fixtures and fingers when section locks have not been properly tightened.

Functions well, clamps seem to hold and are easy to use. Air cushion works.
2 complaints but there minor:
1) the leg lock/unlock mechanism is a bit tough to use at times. Seems like it does not want to unlock. Its a twist to lock setup.
2) The legs themselves could spread wider. It lacks some stability IMO as compared to other stands I have used in the same price range. The stand works fine for my needs, but I MUST weight it outside with any umbrella. Even inside, with a 60" umbrella it feels a bit wobbly. I make sure I point the legs the same direction as the umbrella points but a bit more secure feeling.

Comments about Giottos Air Cushioned Light Stand:
For my Wedding/Event assignments, this stand travels easily, and fits great
in tight spaces in homes and event venues. I've had one for many years,
and now with two, I have a 3-light set up for portraits and groups.
My Nikon's pop-up flash (with small diffuser) is my fill, one Nikon flash
on the Giotto is my Main Light, and my second Nikon flash is my
Background/Hair Light. My Nikon flashes mount securely, are used with
Stofen Omni Bounce's, and remain on the Giotto Light Stand, even after
the stands smoothly collapse for their trip to their next location.
Thanks BH, for all accurate suggestions, and service.

Comments about Giottos Air Cushioned Light Stand:
Well built, professional style stand. Easy to work. However, the base is much smaller than the specifications indicate. So much so, I found the base to be disappointing. I would expect a wider base for professional use. The stand is still usable, but it will require sandbags to keep it stable with a large softbox.

Comments about Giottos Air Cushioned Light Stand:
I purchased these to replace the Impact Stands that came with my 5-Lamp Fluorescent fixtures. The Impact stands in the kit were not sturdy enough for the fixtures and would actually bend forward when extended over four feet high. These handle the heavy fixtures much better.

The stand itself is pretty rugged. All the parts seem like it would last a long time. I wish the base were a little wider.

This product fits me perfect. The room I use it in has a low ceiling so the maximum 7' hight is perfect.

I bought this stand to hold my SB-800 with a shoot through umbrella. It's very sturdy with a 43" umbrella and my flash. I may buy another to hold my SB-600.

I use these stands along with Chimera extra-small light boxes and wireless flash units. The stands are sturdy, light, and very easy to setup. I've been using them for over a year on a regular basis and they've proven to be durable.
