I got this because tornados kept taking the cable service. This allows me to view the local stations with up to current tracking info. Once the twister was close I took the set to the shelter where the battery allowed me to determine when the twister was out of my area.

Up until April 2010, RCA TVs were made in Mexico. This looks similar to another portable, but this is made by another company in China. Don't go by reviews of earlier models. Sound ok, good stereo, picture fair, a little grainy. Reception very poor. Little detachable antenna gets 0 stations in my house, 3 stations outside- only 20 miles from NYC. Even rabbit ears don't help much- needs a big antenna, no antenna attached, so not very "portable" at all. 2 hours playing time, 4 hours charging time. Wish I'd bought the old model.
