Product Highlights
  • For Nikon Digital Cameras
  • 11.1x Zoom Lens
  • Optical Stabilizer (OS)
  • Compact, Lightweight Lens
  • Hyper-Sonic Motor for Quiet Autofocus
  • High-Quality FLD and SLD Optical Glass

The Sigma 18-200mm f/3.5-6.3 II DC OS HSM Lens for Nikon offers an "all-in-one" super-zoom lens solution, from wide-angle to long telephoto. It provides the equivalent focal range of approx. 27-300mm when used with a Nikon digital SLR camera with an APS-C sized sensor. This lens has the OS (Optical Stabilizer) system, which minimizes image blur caused by camera shake, and offers the equivalent of shooting at a shutter speed 2-3 stops faster. This allows handheld telephoto zoom shooting even in poorly lit conditions. It also includes a Hyper Sonic Motor (HSM) for quiet, high-speed autofocus.

The 18-200mm's optical design incorporates aspherical lenses and SLD (Special Low Dispersion) glass, which provides the utmost correction for all types of aberrations. It also enables this extended super-zoom lens to be housed in a compact and lightweight construction.

DC lenses are exclusively designed for digital SLR cameras. The image circle (rear of lens) is sized to match the smaller dimensions used for the APS-C image sensor found on many digital cameras. As a result these lenses are also more compact and lightweight, and are better matched to digital SLR cameras.

Note! (*) Not suitable for 35mm film SLR cameras or for any digital SLR camera with image sensor bigger than APS-C size.

The OS system uses two sensors inside the lens to detect vertical and horizontal movement of the camera. It works by moving an optical image stabilizing lens group, to effectively compensate for camera shake. It automatically detects movement of the camera and compensates for camera shake when shooting a moving subject such as motor sports.
This DC (Digital) lens is designed so that the image circle matches the smaller size of the APS-C sized image sensor of most digital SLR cameras. Its specialized design gives the lens the ideal properties for digital cameras; the compact and lightweight construction is an added bonus.
Two Special Low Dispersion (SLD) elements and three hybrid aspherical lenses provide high-quality images throughout the entire zoom range.
Super Multi Layer (SML) coating reduces ghost and flare.
The HSM (Hyper Sonic Motor) ensures quiet, high-speed autofocus and the inner focus system eliminates front lens rotation, making the lens particularly suitable for using the supplied petal-type lens hood and circular polarizing filters.
A magnification scale is displayed on the lens barrel for each focal length, ensuring ease of use.

I brought the lens two weeks ago. I currently own a Nikon D300 and have several fast lenses. I needed an everyday lens and a travel lens to cut down on the weight and the lens changing. This lens suits my needs. It is lighter than carrying the lens needed to covers the range of the Sigma 18-200 . The pictures thus far have been sharp and no issues with the focus. It is a fun lens to use based on its range. I was surprise and happy the Bokeh. The OS allows you to take low light pictures.

Landscape, wildlife. The lens can be finicky sometimes stopping its autofocus function with Nikon cameras. This means removing and reattaching the lens (for best results). Can be very soft around the edges throughout the focal length. What I was hoping to be a primary lens is now relegated to only very specific uses in good light where I am assured of positive focus.

Comments about Sigma 18-200mm f/3.5-6.3 II DC OS HSM Lens for Nikon:

This lens is very versatile for the price point.Less expensive doesn't mean its not a quality product. This lens has limitation on the sharpness as well as distortion, overall I like the value for the price. The center of the photography is very sharp, however when you start enlarging or zooming in you tend to loose some detail/blown pixels, etc. If you expect a Nikon quality lens you will need to buy the real thing.

Will be using this when I travel for sight-seeing photos. Happy not to have to change out lenses.
        good resolution.
A little heavy, but worth not carrying 2 lenses on a tour

This is a very versatile lens. You can use it to take large group pics, landscapes, or closeups. The very lens to take along when you only want one lens. The only thing that could be better would be if it was 300 mm instead of 200 mm.

This has quickly become my new fav. I love to do a lot of landscape pictures but I am not always able to get close enough for the perfect capture. This give me enough zoom while still keeping the picture at whole. I ended up using this for most of our vacation.

Optics are good. Focus speed is acceptable. Big problem is that the lens will slide out of the chosen focal length when you tip the lens down. This happened in less than 5 days shooting. Very irritating to pull the lens up to shoot and miss a wide angle shot because the lens had adjusted itself to telephoto! My Nikon 75-300 took several years(5 or more) to develop this problem. At $ still a useful purchase.

Comments about Sigma 18-200mm f/3.5-6.3 II DC OS HSM Lens for Nikon:

So far the best lens I've owned after oem lenses from Nikon. A semi pro friend recommended this product for me. Great pictures. Can't wait to bring to Florida next couple weeks. Zoom was amazing for the range and very light too. Fits my camera bag. I can't give any pro level input but I'm pretty sure for the price I am very pleased with. Most review here were very accurate about the products. BH great job!!! Can't find anything wrong since I haven't used it that much yet.

Comments about Sigma 18-200mm f/3.5-6.3 II DC OS HSM Lens for Nikon:

I have some other makes of lens, their great, but very expensive. I chose Sigma because of the price and great workmanship. I have been using Sigma every sinse I went to Alaska and took telephotos of seals. I also went to Glacier national park to do scenery all using a Sigma lens, there were No problems, crisp and clear. Yes, I would, and have recommend Sigma lens.

Comments about Sigma 18-200mm f/3.5-6.3 II DC OS HSM Lens for Nikon:

I'm a hobby photographer and do not like changing lens. After shopping around and price checking against Nikon and others , this lens seems lighter and more compact than the others. Very fast and always consistent output. The only con would be only goes to f6.3. But when you pay only half of a Nikon, still a great buy. Would definitely use B & H again.

Comments about Sigma 18-200mm f/3.5-6.3 II DC OS HSM Lens for Nikon:

I wanted a standard lens when i'm on the go to click random pictures that isn't too much to my pocket. And after several research I found this lens to be the perfect lens. One of the best thing I noticed about this lens is the speed at which it focuses. Focuses really well except at full zoom there is a slight delay at times. But cant complain for this good price.
One major flaw with this lens is the sides are little smudged. Yes no lens is actually perfect. And for this price on top of which I got for a rebate sale. I must say its the most perfect lens of all.
