I alway ask the DPs, DIT, Media Managers, and Editors which drive they rate best for shooting short films. They always agree Glyphs are the best. When it comes to your footage, why risk it with anything else?

High end motion picture production. I wanted to get quality so I thought Glyph was the way to go but it was the same junk for more money. I am now trying OWC drives.

Comments about Glyph Technologies 750GB PortaGig 50 Portable Hard Drive (7200rpm):

I already had a Glyph GT050Q (1 TB) and am very pleased with its reliability and sturdy construction.

I bought the PortaGig 50 to keep in a different location as a secondary backup for my most important files. Though the Portagig 50 is much smaller than the GT050Q, it still feels like a very solid machine. It has a metal case and does not heat up excessively when in use. It is very, very quiet (much more so than the GT050Q). It's quite small and portable, weighing in at about 8 oz.

There are no frills on this hard drive--no pre-installed software. It connected immediately out of the box to my iMac using the Firewire 800 cable that came with the drive. The Firewire or USB cable provides sufficient power to run the drive, but if there isn't enough power available from the Firewire or USB slots, you can use the included AC power cable.

After using this drive for just one month, I can't report on its long-term reliability. Right now I can't think of any negatives for this drive.
