Comments about Tascam SS-CDR200 Solid State and CD Digital Audio Recorder:

Works well to save music to burn on a CD. Would like to be able to fine-tune editing of segments from solid state devices before burning.

Comments about Tascam SS-CDR200 Solid State and CD Digital Audio Recorder:

I USE THE TASCAM CDR200 MOSTLY FOR PLAYBACK OF "BACKING TRACKS" FOR A LIVE DUO AND I MUST SAY IT IS THE BEST, EASIEST TO OPERATE, MOST
RELIABLE PIECE OF EQUIPMENT THAT I HAVE EVER OWNED. THE FACT THAT
TRACKS CAN BE RECORDED ON CD OR WAV OR MP3 FILES ALLOWS FOR
          SKIP-FREE/WORRY FREE PERFORMANCE EVERY TIME.
AND IT HAS SOME GREAT FEATURES, SUCH AS THE VARIABLE SPEED CONTROL
THAT OPERATES WITH OR WITHOUT CHANGING PITCH........IT IS JUST WHAT WE NEEDED AND THEN SOME! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

            Superb Audio Recorder

            By Tascam Lover

            from Houston, TX

Comments about Tascam SS-CDR200 Solid State and CD Digital Audio Recorder:

This is an excellent audio recording system. I bought mine to transfer about 65 DAT tapes to more available and reliable media. For long play or poorer recordings you can go to MP3 format from 64 to 310 kbps. For those recordings from imported vinyl at 44.1 or 48 kHz and 16 bit stereo you don't lose any quality. Media includes CD-R/CD-RW/SDHC/CF/USB. These range from 512Mb to 64 GB. A $20 card can hold over 50 hours of CD quality audio, or over 280 hours of 256 kbps MP3. Compared to a $[$] DAT tape which could hold 2 hours of CD quality or 4 hours at reduced quality, this is a great cost savings. The other advantage is the extremely long life of the memory cards versus 10 or less years for a DAT tape, a playback malfunction can destroy a new DAT tape. The music files on SDHC/CF/USB are easily portable to your computer and back up system. Inputs and outputs cover about all situations, balanced and unbalanced analog and SPDIF coaxial inputs and outputs.About the only things that can be said against the deck are the lack of microphone amplifiers and a knob for input level. Most systems will have an external mixer for gain control and microphone inputs. This recorder does have a menu item to adjust input level. It also can be set to write a new along marker when the input falls below a selectable level for a selectable amount of time. This makes unattended transfer from any format to digital straight forward. Tascam also makes two less expensive solid state recorders. The SS-R200 leaves out the CD record and playback system. The SS-R100 also leaves out the balanced analog input, but retains the digital and unbalanced analog inputs and outputs. The SS-R100 would be adequate for almost any home system.I have had no problems with any of several brands and sizes of memory cards and multiple brands of CD-R/RW. No coasters with data or audio CDs.B&H had the best price.

Comments about Tascam SS-CDR200 Solid State and CD Digital Audio Recorder:

I use the product to record local semi-pro symphonys and many school concerts. It gives me the flexibility to record in many formats and recording media. I used to have a CD recorder linked to a mixer which served my "mobile" recording purposes. With this unit, I have a rack system that is easier to set up and much better to record with. Should have done this long before now!!! Haven't found anything bad yet.

We brought this for recording purpose of Stage Functions. Its beautiful because recording is possible on USB, CD, Flash Disk. The only demerit is it don't have a IR Remote, but wired remote serves the function to a extend.
