You've probably already got a super-slim HDTV; and maybe you've been thinking about adding some speakers, a receiver and a Blu-ray disc player to create your ultimate home theater.
Lucky for you, Yamaha's BDX-610BL 5.1-Channel Blu-ray Home Theater System, gives you all of these without breaking the bank. The receiver features a built-in Blu-ray disc player and this is complemented by a 5.1-channel speaker system. This all translates to thrilling film screenings and music playback -- all from the comfort of your very own living room. All you need are a few Blu-ray discs (and some popcorn) and you're all set. Plus, the high-gloss finish of the system blends in perfectly with the look of flat screen displays.
Features include support for Blu-ray 3D discs, HD audio format decoding, and 1080p-compatible HDMI with Audio Return Channel. And when you connect it to your home network, you can add offerings from Netflix and YouTube to your repertoire of entertainment options. Since it's DLNA certified, you can also play music stored on your PC. Chances are you may have an iPod, iPhone, or USB device -- and you can enjoy content from these through your home theater simply by connecting one of them to the USB port on the front panel.
And perhaps the best part: the unit eliminates the space needed for both a receiver and Blu-ray disc player in your setup, since it includes both. Rounding out your entertainment experience is the provided speakers, which offer superb audio reproduction. You'll get front, center, surround speakers and don't forget the point-one part; the subwoofer for rich, deep bass.
For high performance, a space-saving form factor and affordability, look no further than the BDX-610BL.

Comments about Yamaha BDX-610BL 5.1-Channel Blu-ray Home Theater System:
I was looking for an affordable option for a 5.1 speaker system in a box with receiver for a portable projection screening system to be used either on our roof terrace in the summer or to be taken to other outdoor or indoor venues - to be used in conjunction with my HD projector and portable outdoor projection screen. When I found this Yamaha system, and saw that it comes with a Bluray player built-in to the 5.1 receiver, I was sold. It all fits nicely into a small box.
Of course this system is not weatherproof, so it cannot be used in a wet or rainy environment - but I never intend to use it this way.
Having had experience with a stand alone Yamaha 7.1 receiver, I knew the this component would have similar features and controls, which I liked.
The 5.1 speaker package this system comes with is very compact. The sound quality is decent - but by no means would I say it blew me away. Set up is very easy. Its pretty much as expected for a cheap all-in-one system. Sound quality is clear but not gigantic - somewhat thin. The passive subwoofer included is likely the weakest link - thankfully the receiver has an RCA out for a powered sub if you want to upgrade that component easily for a bigger sound. If this is going to be your main home system, I would say there are better options sound quality wise - but at this price point it would be hard to beat. For my application as a portable movie watching system, its perfectly adequate.
I like the USB port on the front which allows you to connect an iPod or iPhone to the receiver for music playback. Playlists and the like can be controlled via the Yamaha remote.
