The black ACPRO1200 Digital SLR Camera Case from Ape Case is an effective combination of reliability, functionality and price. This water-resistant nylon bag is your basic shoulder bag with all the features you need to get the job done without paying a hefty price. Built to hold 1-2 DSLRs (one with lens attached), a couple of lenses or your digital camcorder, this bag proves that big things do occasionally come in small packages.

The tough nylon exterior is complimented by a smooth-lined interior that is filled with padded, movable dividers that permit you to arrange your Pro bag to accommodate whatever gear you need that day. The dividers are not only padded but are bright yellow making them easy to see in marginal light - let's say, if you're shooting in a dark club or concert. It's a clever addition to a shooting bag that is designed to make your life easier in the field.

Within the bag itself there are fifteen pockets and compartments - more than enough to carry lens and accessories like batteries, cables, pens, filters, cleaning cloths or your cell phone, MP3 player or PDA. A zippered exterior accessory pocket keeps all the small stuff together while an internal mesh pocket serves the same purpose for quick grab items. Working in the field can build up a thirst so Ape has even included a side pull out water bottle pocket. Zippers are supplied for rapid access to the main compartment and accessory pockets while a front snap buckle makes sure the bag stays shut when you want it to stay shut. The bag also has dual tripod straps on the bottom that can also serve to secure your jacket.

The Pro is carried around by its removable, adjustable and wide shoulder strap that has an extra wide contoured shoulder pad for added comfort. For those quick grab moments, there's an additional ribbed top grab handle. An ID holder slot is located on the inside of the front flap that can hold your name or business cards. All this is backed by Ape's limited lifetime warranty against defects. For what it offers at a reasonable price point, it's a serious contender for a daily shooting bag for pro or amateur.

I purchased this case to replace my Lowepro 200 Slingshot for day trips. The Slingshot is a great bag, however I wish I could switch shoulders more easily.

The Ape Case makes this much easier. The only downside is the shaped shoulder strap. The padding is shaped in a slight curve to provide a better fit over the shoulder and neck. Switching shoulders with the shaped strap, while easy, means that the zippers are facing out half the time and in when on the opposite shoulder. This is a small inconvenience and could be easily remedied by replacing the shoulder strap as another reviewer had mentioned.

Interior space is roomy enough for just what I need after rearranging the velcro dividers. Personally, I would like it to be a bit larger inside - the larger size would be too big for my needs, but I would like just a little more space.

I easliy fit an Oly 620 body with extended battery grip and a 14-54 zoom in the main camera compartment. In the other spaces I fit a flash, zoom lens, diffuser and lens hoods for both lenses. The various external pockets provide ample storage for small accessories including flash cards, AC charger, cords, batteries, etc.

I did find that larger, odd shaped accessories (like a Giottos Rocket Air) did not fit neatly and had to simply lie on top in the main compartment - hence my comment earlier about wishing there was just a bit more room.

All in all, I am quite happy with the bag and the few times I've taken it out, have been satisfied with the advantages over the Slingshot. It is just what I wanted with a few, relatively insignificant exceptions.

I don't have an extensive collection of camera gear right now, just a couple of lenses and a Canon DSLR. I picked this bag thinking it would handle what I have, and allow for a little expansion down the road. This bag will work very well for what I want it to do.

However, the interior panels arrangement are flipped (left to right) from the open bag picture without any real flexibility in rearranging them. Sure there is plenty of velcro on the front and back, but the left side has a horizontal strip of velcro with no vertical while the right side has a vertical strip with no horizontal. This leaves the cradle for the camera body stuck on the left side because you cannot fully secure a vertical divider to that side or the cradle on the right side. This may seem a trivial matter, however this is a basic function of this bag that has seemingly been over looked. Why use velcro in the first place if there is only one place to put your things?

Other than that, this bag will work well for me for the foreseeable future.

My case holds a Nikon D5100 with kit 18-55 zoom attached, plus the Nikon 55-200 kit zoom. I was able to adjust the removable velcro-held dividers & set the case to my liking. Besides the camera & 2 lenses, the case holds my charger & extra battery, and lots of other items I want with me. I love the yellow lining as it is so much easier to find black-colored items (versus in a black case). I recommend Ape Cases to everyone who needs a solid product for their camera equipment.

I bought this for my Sony A65 w/18-135 lens. I wanted room to add other lenses. The velcro dividers are adjustable but some only go certain ways. One is to support the lens but the 'shelf' for the camera to sit on is too low even if I flip it over. I'll be able to add more to the case though. I think a zipper and three clasps are enough to keep the top secured.

Perfect size, take the time to arrange it as it is the perfect size to fit camera + 4 small lens.
Although it may be too small for many, its the perfect size for specific uses and if you want to carry your camera around during travel.
Who needs more than 2-3 lens anyway?

This bag is physically made well, but I agree with another reviewer in saying that all the little removable dividers really only fit together a couple ways, so even though this bag is plenty large enough for my gear I could not organize it in the bag.

I thought for the price I would be getting a low end camera bag. I was wrong. It has many usefull pockets or compartments, appears to be made very sturdy, padded very nice. It holds my camera with attatched lens, another loose 55-200 lens, speedlight, memorty cards, battery charger and lens filters. It still has room for more.

Comments about Ape Case ACPRO1200 Digital SLR Camera Case (Black):

This is a mid-level case. I like the fact that it has straps for a tripod and it came with several dividers. The way it is set up and some of the dividers are more suited to a smaller lens, where I usually keep a 100mm macro on my camera at all times. It took a while to figure out a way to use the dividers, and I ended up putting another piece of foam in it that I had laying around. There was just no great way to set it up for a bigger lens. The other issue I have is with the strap, which isn't very good. The padded area is sewn in, so it doesn't move as you adjust the bag on your shoulder, and adjusting the bag on your shoulder sometimes causes the strap buckles to come apart. It's easy to put back together, but an annoying thing to deal with. Make sure you make adjustments on the ground is my advice. It is also very heavy with a tripod on it, and the strap pad is angled and really cuts into your shoulder fully loaded. Once I modified with my own foam, it was better, though I would still like a new strap for it. It's cheaper than some similar bags, so that's definitely a plus.

Was looking for a well padded case to store and carry my camera, lenses, flash, spare batteries, and excessories. While it might be a bit much to carry each and every time I want to use my camera, its much better than not having what I need when I need it. We do a lot of traveling and this case is perfect for making sure I haven't forgot something.

The case is well constructed and is easily configurable. I've used it several times and found it really isn't cumbersome to wear. The extra padding on the shoulder strap is a nice extra.

The camera case is great to put all your camera equipement in;cables. manual, battery, lenses. great protection. Going to use it mostly for storing the camera. i may still need to purchase a smaller bag for on the go. Too big to take to zoo or park.

Comments about Ape Case ACPRO1200 Digital SLR Camera Case (Black):
