          Comments about LaCie USB 3.0-Y Cable - Micro B to 2 x USB A:

It seemed ridiculous to me, that the Sonnet USB 3.0 ExpressCard 34, comes with a socket on the side, to accept external power, but is non-functional, with no apparent plans to make it functional on any future upgrades. Since most of my USB 3.0 drives are portable, with no external power of their own, I simply hadn't been able to take advantage of the higher speed of USB 3.0, till now. Even though Lacie doesn't guarantee the effectiveness of their Y cable on any non-Lacie drives, so far it's worked just fine on other brands. While it's stupid that the USB 3.0 adaptors don't provide enough power to run small drives, kudos to Lacie for at least jury-rigging a solution.
