I've seen some fine projectors in my life, and some really terrible ones, and I figured my money would get me something "middle of the road". Wow, was I wrong. When I took this thing out of the box and turned it on, and the picture came up, I was just sitting there stunned at the quality. Thank you, Epson, for making true luxury affordable. The brightness is amazing, the clarity stunning, and the Monster Vision 3D glasses I bought to use with it, affordable and absolutely amazing. All I can say is wow.

The projector stopped working after about three weeks of usage.

After about two weeks of usage the picture started showing up lighter/duller than usual and would take a few minutes before picture became normal. Now after about three weeks of use picture does not show up at all and the red light indicating faulty blub flashes. Epson sent me a replacement bulb, but it did not make any difference. Since the product is covered under warranty, Epson will replace the product, but only with a refurbished one. If the problem keeps happening, I will have to bear the cost of mounting the projector to the ceiling each time (i.e until I get a different brand ).

Comments about Epson PowerLite Home Cinema 5010 Projector:

I had an Epson 8350 and started have auto iris issues with it, after the 3rd replacement I decided to move up a couple models. We've been running the 5010 for about 75 hours so far and it has not disappointed. The 5010 has very granular control setting to get the picture dialed into your environment. We're using ours in the basement as a home theatre unit and it looks great in low or no lighting. We're still waiting on the free pairs of 3D glasses offered by Epson before trying that mode. That combined with the recently reduced price made the 5010 an excellent value. Also, for those who don't know , Epson has great support and if you do have a problem with your item they will work with you to make it right.

Comments about Epson PowerLite Home Cinema 5010 Projector:

I bought this projector to replace my older unit (different brand) whose image had gotten dimmer and kind of yellow-ish with time. My wife and kids especially disliked the old image. I did some research and found this Epson seemed to have the "right stuff" in terms of lumens, 3-D capability and features. It is great - good daylight illumination, bright crisp colors, white-whites and black-blacks. I am very happy with it.

Replacing my old Sanyo Projector the Epson 5010 is amazing! The picture quality is remarkable! Having an adjustable lense makes set up really easy in almost any room and layout. Set up is a snap the menu interface is simple intuitive and easy to navigate. The built in 3D capabilities are very cool as is the ability to set the color temp and lumens based on the lighting situation in your viewing room. Also, you ain't seen sports on TV until you see it on this baby. The BOMB!
Over all this is a remarkable projector, you can not really go wrong with this one. Love it!

This projector is excellent. I install home theater systems and this is now my go to projector of choice. It gives a beautiful image and runs so quietly you can barely hear it.
As a plus, from a setup standpoint, it used discrete power commands. Also the lens gives plenty of flexibility with the lens shift.

Where do I start? My husband and I had a 55in top of the line Phillips 1080P LCD TV. My husband's dream was to have a projector. So we researched it and waited. Sure enough, we finally saved up enough to get the Epson 5010. After all the set up, we eagerly sat to watch The Christmas Carol w/Jim Carrey. There are no words! This is the most amazing picture, size, clarity ever. We had no idea it would be so amazing. I'm telling you - get it and get it from B&H. These guys are top of the line customer service and they ship their products very carefully and it gets to us all the way here in Washington from New York with no problem. Our surround sound is from them too. Get, set it up, sit down and enjoy it! You will NOT be dissappointed!

This was a breeze to set up. The image is MAGNIFICENT. When watching Blu-Ray discs you really feel like you're in a theatre. I haven't even calibrated it yet, and it looks magnificent. I'm waiting for our 3D glasses to try out the 3D. If the quality is up to the 2D material, it's going to blow my mind.

That's the good. There is one piece of possible bad.

I love old movies and when you're plugged into HDMI it automatically chooses the format, and it can't be changed. So, the old movies I've watched fill the screen. They look great 99.9% of the time. But, sometimes the actors look short and fat. Not throughout the movie, but at certain angles and depths. It's weird.

But, I highly recommend this projector, it was practically plug and play.

Comments about Epson PowerLite Home Cinema 5010 Projector:

I had wanted a home theatre for a long time as I
was in the movie theatre business in my younger days, but I didn't know much about the new age of
digital projection, so I called in a local home theatre installer. He gave me a list of the names
and models of the items that would be suitable for my situation. The projector he recommended was
the Epson PowerLite 5010. I had been studying what would be suitable lumens and I was thinking
that I would need about 3500 lumens for my 100 inch screen, but I figured he knew that this model would be bright enough, so that is the projector that I ordered. When he first turned the projector on, the screen was very dim. For a few seconds, I thought that he told me wrong, but then a good bright screen came on, so I was happy. When he put in a DVD and showed it on the screen, it gave a bright beautiful picture. I knew
then that he told me the right projector to get. I am very pleased with the projected picture and I
highly recommend the Epson Powerite 5010.

Comments about Epson PowerLite Home Cinema 5010 Projector:

This is a fantastic projector. I have not even tried it in 3D yet, but 2D mode is great. The image is very crisp and bright even in Cinema Mode on ECO on a 123" screen! The blacks are deep and dark scenes really come through nicely, especially compared to my previous projector (Sanyo PLV-70).

Comments about Epson PowerLite Home Cinema 5010 Projector:

Was looking for a replacement for my 8 year old projector that died. I have a living room setup that I use half of the time with ambient lighting (football games in the afternoon) and half in relative darkness (movies at night). My previous DLP did pretty well at these and was rated at 2500 ANSI Lumens. I was concerned that the Epson 5010 was rated at 2400 lumens. Therefore I was blown away at how the Epson outperformed my bright DLP in brightness and resolution/clarity. It seriously appears twice as bright as my previous. I can watch during the day like it is a TV. The four preset "color modes" adjust the brightness and contrast so easily depending on the ambient light and content. I am VERY happy I spent the extra money to get this projector. I wish it was a little smaller unit for my installation, but that is a small price to pay.

Comments about Epson PowerLite Home Cinema 5010 Projector:

This projector has a great image quality with deep, vibrant colors. However, I was disappointed that the focus and lens shifting were done with manual dials and not remote driven. I suspended this projector to a drop ceiling using a kit. Since the projector hangs from a wire-connected mount, having to manually adjust the lens makes the whole unit shake and lose it's position on the wall. Also, the vertical shift tends to drift down with minor vibrations.
