I actually used this product to build a Sound Blimp. That being said, it has very solid construction. It has thick, durable plastic, and is well insulated. The Pick 'n Pluck foam is also great. Customizing it to fit your gear is easy.
I used this case to fit a D300, and it was a bit small. There is only 1/2 inch of foam on one side, but it still works fine for what I am using it for.
The only downsides I faced was that the hinge pinched my fingers once, and snapping the lid closed takes a bit of force. Although the latter may or may not be a good thing, depending on how you look at it. On one side, it's hard to close, but on the other - the reason it is hard to close is because of the weather-tight seal.

This case is great for storing or transporting small electronics.
The latches seem to be a little on the weak side, but seems to hold the lid on tight enough to close and make the seal.
I would purchase this case again.

I bought this to replace a soft case for the Sennheiser Wireless G3 Lav set. It's got plenty of room for my one mic kit. has room for my body pack, and receiver, and handheld mic transmitter. This case actually survived a drop down a 16 step staircase, and the mic's inside were perfectly fine. Had the mics been in the original softcase, I'd be replacing a $800 wireless set. It's already covered it's own value!

I bought this case to hold my Canon 70-200mm L lens. I was worried about the lens banging around in the car and I wanted something to hold it in to prevent it from being damaged because I can't afford to replace it. The case fits my lens perfectly and the foam ensures a tight fit so if it slides off the seat onto the floor, it won't bump around inside. I sure beats the plastic ammo case that I glued foam into to turn it into a box for my camera stuff.

Comments about Pelican 1150 Case with Foam (Black):
Dust proof, water proof, and crush resistant. N'uff said. I'm planning on storing several small C-clamps in this unit. Other than building my own wooden box, Pelican is the only other realistic option for this application. Plus, it's a whole lot cheaper and less effort than building my own box.

This is the perfect size for our Sennheiser EW112-p G3 wireless lavalier when we're transporting it to various filming locations. The construction is sturdy the case is light and easy to carry and it is well padded. The pricing is also reasonable for the amount of protection the case offers.

Comments about Pelican 1150 Case with Foam (Black):
The Pelican 1150 is shock-, dust- and water- proof -- all necessary qualities in difficult locations like sub-Saharan Africa. The "pluck n' pull" foam made it easy to remove sections of the foam insert to hold a small point-shoot camera plus accessories to create "camera kits" for 60 youth participating in a photo camp. These kids will be very, very happy.

I'm a professional tattoo artist and this lil beauty fits four of my machines while i travel, giving me comfort in its indestructibility. The pluck foam allows me to custom fit tattoo machines and the watertight sill lets me know that my equipment will not get wet here in rainy Portland.[...]

Comments about Pelican 1150 Case with Foam (Black):
The Pelican boxes are GREAT. Dry with a water tight seal. Latches seem very sturdy and have a positive locking feel to them. I use mine for keeping my SIRIUS Satelite Radio module and IPod dry on my boat and so far it's working great. The foam is easy to custom pick and pull away to fit whatever you may want to store inside. I'm very happy with this product.
