Comments about SeaLife Charger Kit for DC1400 / 1200 Camera:

I bought this as an upgrade to the DC1200. I took this camera with me diving in Mexico, Honduras and Belize. The diving there is typical Caribbean with 50-60 ft visibility and good light at my 60 ft depth. The first thing I noticed is that , just like the DC1200, the DC1400 underwater housing does not come with an attachment string for the lens cap. I immediate lost the lens cap. When using the camera on 720P, the picture is less clear and has less color than the DC1200 on 480p. I tried several other settings to make the picture more clear and add color but it just did not measure up to the DC1200. Not only was the picture color washed out, but it was also pixilated and displayed occasional strobe effect in playback. I suspect that this has to do with lux rating at 720p. I did not try it yet on the 480p setting to see if that increased picture quality. I also was not able to try the camera with a constant-on video light to see if that improved it. The video light that came bundled had a small spread that was much smaller than the FOV, did not fit well into the bracket holder and the bracket holder did not fit together with the flash bracket at all. It made a good hand held pin light but was useless as a video light. The floating wrist attachment is also useless. The draw string will not close enough to keep it around your wrist and it constantly floats up in front of the lens. Very annoying. I may try to purchase the Sealife Video light to see if it provides enough light to improve picture quality, but I am doubtful that it will help anything beyond a few feet. Finally, it is worth mentioning that this camera did not come with a separate charger. It came with a spare battery that could not be charged in the camera. Once it was dead, I was down to one battery. This can be limiting on a two tank dive. I had to buy ($) an external charger (once I returned home)in order to charge the batteries properly.

Comments about SeaLife Charger Kit for DC1400 / 1200 Camera:

The charger kit is great because includes an additional battery; so now I have 2 batteries and I am able to charge both cameras in one evening in preparation for the next day of dive usage.

Charges quickly. And having the extra battery allows a swap between dives. No more plugging in the camera!
