The portable and lightweight Toshiba 32GB Thrive 7" Tablet can be your personal assistant, confidant, photographer and friend. It affords organization, entertainment and communication. It already supports the innovative and mobile-specific Android 3.2 Honeycomb operating system; why not let it support you too. The Thrive features a 7" capacitive multi-touch LCD screen with 1280 x 800 resolution, LED backlight, stylus support, virtual keyboard with Swype, Toshiba Adaptive Display and Toshiba Resolution+ Video Enhancement Technology. The 16:10 widescreen aspect ratio and wide-viewing angle ensure your movies will be viewed as the director intended with no altering or cropping to fit the screen. Plus, the internal 1GB LPDDR2 RAM memory keeps your multitasking flowing smoothly, thanks to the 1.0GHz NVIDA Tegra 2 dual-core mobile processor. The 32GB storage capacity is ideal for storing all your audio and video content, but if you need more room, the microSD card slot affords ample storage expansion.
The Thrive features a plethora of connection options as well. For wireless connectivity, it's equipped with WiFi (802.11 b/g/n) and Bluetooth V 2.1. You can access the Internet from your home wireless network or from any WiFi hot-spot. Plus, Bluetooth connectivity affords wireless device connection for easy and convenient keyboard or mouse hook-up. Other connection options include a mini USB 2.0 port, a 3.5 mm stereo headphone jack and a micro HDMI port for playing back video content on an HDTV in uncompressed, Full HD 1080p resolution. There are also front and rear cameras, as well as a docking connector port. The front two-megapixel webcam and integrated microphone facilitate video-chatting, while the rear five-megapixel camera shoots photos and records 720p HD video. It also features auto-focus, digital zoom and an LED flash.
The Thrive is also outfitted with stereo speakers and several sensors. Besides GPS capabilities, the tablet is accoutered with a gyroscope, accelerometer, ambient light sensor and even a digital compass. The back cover is removable and you can accessorize it with optional Easy Grip Back Cover Panels in various colors (sold Separately). With so many connection possibilities, extensive multimedia support, a fabulous display and a laundry list of accessorizing features, you can easily employ the Thrive Tablet as a tool in your mobile office or as a device designed for entertainment, mobile fun and communication with friends and family. I prefer my iPad 2... by far. The reason I bought this was the smaller size. It works well, and is pretty neat, I just like the OS5 platform over the Android platform. So if you don't mind a larger tablet, go with the iPad, for a small 7" tablet, this one is great.

I purchased the Thrive 7 primarily to use as an Ereader. I'm using the Kindle software, which I downloaded without any problems. I'm very happy with the screen resolution and can read books without any eyestrain. It's way better than the Kindle Fire, IMHO, for this purpose.
Pros: really easy to set up and use, screen resolution, convenient screen rotation lock, excellent as Ereader, found my home wifi network without difficulty, native browser works fine for me, GPS works fine, feels sturdy without being too heavy.
Cons: price, sound is kind of "tinny", YouTube is laggy and I haven't had time to troubleshoot it yet, unremovable bloatware, native Gmail only allows "conversation view" which I hate, need to purchase upgrades for QuickOffice and PrinterShare to make them functional, very few accessories available yet (e.g. a decent case).
Regarding the battery... During use, the battery life is anywhere between 3 and 9+ hours. I would guess around 7 hrs is the average. When the tablet is sleeping, the battery life seems indefinite. When I check the battery use monitor, the screen usually accounts for ~90% of the battery use (auto setting for screen brightness).
Note that I've only used this for 2 weeks and I am new to Android, so I'll probably see many more "Pros" after I find my way around.
