I figured this was a solid backup approach, being RAID and all, but something in the unit failed (I say something because OWC only provided cursory help to diagnose the problem, so I'm currently at a loss as to how to recover from the failure.) Thus, this product seems only to offer a false sense of security if you are looking for a reliable backup. I'm currently considering all disk drives throw away, because I've had so many fail.

I had this product two months before both drives died at the same time. I lost months worth of photoshop work and other items. After spending about an hour calling various numbers, Hitachi offered to replace the drives, but I had such a bad experience that I will NEVER use any Hitachi drives again. I would recommend that you stay far away from this item.
